I knew people that labelled their food. I can understand why because I had room mates before that would never buy groceries. I didnt have much money but I bought some groceries and it would seem I never even got to eat any of them.

Hiding the TP in your room though is a bit extreme.

heheh I laughed my ass off when he said the TP thing

I can totally understand writting name on food though. I am a super picky eater and most people can eat anything and like it so when they eat all of my food then it's not like I can ya know just make something else because I won't like it.

I have never labeled food, but I did once evict a roomate over it..he never bought food....ever. he once a week or so got pizza from work, but never put anything in the fridge. I told him eventually, if he ate my food again he was gone. here is the kicker, he thought he found a smart way around it. he used my bread and cheese to make us BOTH grilled sammiches, thinking that wouldnt count...had he asked first it wouldnt have, but he didnt ask and I kicked him out.

when I lived on my own, rent was 520 and I charged my roomie 280 plus half utilities
the place had a one year lease in my name, I found it, all the furniture was mine except for in his room (including dishes, pots/pans, etc)
didn't tell him that we weren't paying equal portions, but it was a fairly small difference

I'd go 50/50 with your situation though, or a $20-$50 difference, not something huge but enough to take the edge of your monies.

(I didn't label my food ever, but he and I had such different tastes that we never bought the same things anyways, and if I was in doubt I'd just ask, ditto for him)

Plus, it's YOUR name on the lease and your responsibility if anything goes wrong, right?

I think it's fair for your roomie to pay half, but that's just me.
