It came to me in dead of night,

But when I woke it did take flight.

I pondered long this horrid dream,

That brought from me a silent scream.

I knew not where I should turn,

For in my mind a fire burned.

The rushing pain was left unchecked,

As my thoughts had all been wrecked.

I sought help in Buddha’s words,

Where thoughts like these could not be heard.

The soothing tones did calm my heart,

And let the tide of panic part.

    But the horror lingered long,

    Piercing through the holy song.

    What dread demon could inspire

A vision so engulfed in fire?

    A confluence of Terrors’ seed

Had built the dream with rapid speed.

In my brain it lay unseen,

    Waiting till I was serene.

It tackled me while I had slumbered,

    Thus unconscious and encumbered.

It cut a swath across my mind,

And brought my resting to a grind.

In the end I doused the dread,

Resumed my peace within my bed.

As my hand turned out the light,

I prayed then for a peaceful night.
