For me it was Glastonbury uk,when hundreds of people were waiting for Bob Dylan to come on and the sun was just setting behind the stage - I was right at the front and everyone was singing Waterloo Sunset.
Wakarusa 2005. It was raging madness especially because the music would go from like noon till 6 am. So many awsome bands it was insane and it had a good smaller, headdier less custie vibe than say bonaroo.
There was a lollapalooza that I went to in highschool - it being my first major concert - which was so much fun, made some great friends that I still have.
Winnipeg Folk Fest, 2003. Ani DiFranco, Buffy St. Marie, Buddy Guy, Billy Bragg and a ton of others. 3 days long, everyone camping in a field. It was amazing.
CCR in Boise at the River Festival (back when they still had one). The atmosphere was just awesome. It was like time went back 30 years. I've been to a lot bigger shows in the past, but that one just felt so ......cool That was one of the last Riverfests...it's so sad, because it was days of great music and I could walk there from my house.
i wanna say Led Zep and Lee Michaels for free when i was 15 up in frisco or waking up to the dead at the us festival but i'll have to say it was the bluegrass festivals that were the best. Then again when Jerry played at the park.
Grateful Dead @ RFK in D.C. 6-24-95 & 6-25-95 my first, last, and only Dead show, I was 13. Phish- the Hampton shows @Hampton Colliseum, Hampton, VA 11-20 & 11-21 1998 IT & COVENTRY Burningman, 1997/1998/1999 Family Nationals, 1998/AZ, 1999/PA
Time for an old hippie to put in his. The biggest and best concert I ever went to was at the race track in Syracuse, NY, summer of 1975 with about 100,000 people in attendance. It started off with Jefferson Starship, then America, New Riders of the Purple Sage, the Doobie Brothers and finally the Beach Boys!
There are so-o many great concerts I've bin to that it's hard to decide; for outdoor--there are two--"Summer Jam Festival" Take-it easy-Ranch, Callaway,MD--July 27th, 1974 and " Stevie Ray Vaughan" Merryweather Post Pavillon, Columbia,MD--I saw him right before he died--he's up there jammin with Jimi Hendrix--and so many more--now THATS one hell of a festival! Indoor-- it's definetly OZZY and Mountain!
i would say that the 2.... 3 day festivals i went to in 70 were great.. atlanta pop festival in macon, georgia and gooselake in michigan.. HAd the time of my LIFE!!! NOTHING HAS EVER COMPARED TO THE GREAT PEOPLE AND THE LOVE AND CARE OF ONE ANOTHER.. since!!!
I'm always disappointed when I go to a concert. But there was one in Australia called "Alternative Nation", a good 12 years ago. A one-day concert. Lots of famous international acts (Live, L7, Body Count, Primus, Nine Inch Nails, Faith No More, Lou Reed, The Tea Party, and others I can't remember). Unfortunately the heavens were not kind to us and the venue turned into a field of mud by the end of the night, but apart from that it was pretty good. It was never repeated again...
I went to this amazing one in Eurika, Califonia. I dunno what it was but it was a life changing event and it was awsome!
Pink Floyd Animal tour,Anaheim. The rain started and stopped just before the show.Still wondering how they did that.
Ozzfest '04. The orginal Black Sabbath and the original Judas Preist on the same stage would be hard to top.
Ozzfest 2005,my first & only concert!Sabbath and Maiden tore it up!!!All the other bands were shit though. They all sounded the same to me...
Best time ever....Montrose....Harry Chapin....If......The Eagles.....Etc... Nekkid people running around.... every body was happy except Ronnie Montrose who fought with the Eagles over who would close the show. The Eagles closed and Montrose with Sammy Hagar, played second fiddle to the up and coming Eagles.
