Ok, in the planet of the apes movie series, in the 3rd one 'escape from the planet of the apes' two of the apes go back in time and have a child ape who, when he becomes older and apes have been taken as pets, starts an uprising that causes apes to take over the world. Therefore, because he did that he created the era where the two apes that had him came from. So... he could not have existed unless apes took over the world, and apes could not have taken over the world unless he had existed.

At first i thought this paradox was similar to the grandfather paradox, wherein, if one goes back in time in order to do something, say to kill alexander graham bell, then in the future, there would be no reason to kill him because he was already dead, therefore you would not go back in time to kill him, but then he would be alive, so you'd go back in time to kill him, caught in an infinite loop(the name was created for going back and killing your grandfather before he met your grandmother so you couldn't be concieved to go back and kill him, but it works either way).

But there is something different about the planet of the apes scenario. Somehow the aftereffects of uprising apes influenced the uprising of the apes it self. Somethingelse had to have started the cycle of temporal cause and effect.

saint bridget was the goddess bridged who was her own grandmother.
dagda the smith was both her father and her son.
he crafted a caldron that was never empty but always filled whith a hot,
    wholesom, nourishing and deliceous stew.
she also had two brothers (by the father who was her son who was the god dagda).
one who was a warrior his father (supposedly) loved
the other a pacifist bard who'me his father (supposedly) detested
the bard was named fingol, which was the name
i took for my s.c.a persona; fingol o garranglas.

Heinlein wrote a story in which a person was their own mother, their own father and themself.

Time travel stories can be fun.

Going back in time would be entering a similar but alternate reality.

So you'd be killing the grandfather of someone who doesn't exist.

A movie about apes taking over the world SHOULDN'T be expected to make sense.

if you went back in time, why do you think you would stay the same age? why would there be two of you? how would you even know you had gone back in time? would you have any knowledge of "the present", or would "the present" become the time you were in after you had "gone back"?

interesting questions that don't matter since time does not exist.

Time doesn't exist, it's a creation of the fickle human mind although it does serve useful purposes in all our lives whether we recognise it or not. That's why you'll never find an answer to your paradox, and that's why we'll never know when time started and what happened before that and when time will end and what will happen after that. Because it doesn't exist.

Time is not constant. The rate at which energy can change is not constant.

Time is the rate at which energy can change.

Lather: Is your name from the Jefferson Airplane song? I also like Bike.

You know it man. One Of My Turns is a great song too... I just listened to it after observing your signature and on the 2:02 mark I convulsed so hard that my headphones flew right off... and my head still hurts
