1. Parents have authority over their children. - positive authority 2. Doctors have authority over their patients. - positive authority 3. Teachers have authority over their students. - positive authority 4. Employers have authority over their workers. - Is it right for employers to have authority over their workers? 5. States have authority over their citizens. - Is it right for states to have authority over their citizens? I think so, because the citizens gave the state authority to work on their behalf. I think some of the above examples like 1,2, and 3 are justified authority, but that is questionable. Is some authority necessary and justified or is all authority unjustified and unnecessary? Most authority is harmful, by some is beneficial and necessary. I created this thread just to hear other opinions and views. So what do you think?
Authority is a state of mind - It is also the product of knowledge - to be against authority, one must rebel with authority. That is to say - one must be authoritative in a new way of doing things otherwise we would be in disarray. Either there is authority or there is chaos and chaos is not anarchy. Anarchy is peace and order and love.
