ok so i was growing a plant indoors and then hardened it off and dug a hole twice the size of the roots and then planted it. im reading now that people dig huge holes and put high quality soil in. Now it would be hard to get a lotta soil to my spot but its in a woods and under the leafs is a lotta dark brown/reddish soil that i imagine would be great and some dark black soil as well its just decomposed leaves but with this stuff whats the ph of decomposed leaves and should i dig up my plant work the soil thoughly add a lot of this nice compost stuff and the water retaining crystals or let it be? The ground its in now is pretty dense stuff. what to do please resond. The plant is doing OK now (just slight yellowing towards the bottom but i thinks thats ok)
I can't comment of the quality of the existing soil at your grow site. If you had read my Guide to Guerilla Growing thread, I recommend digging holes 3' wide by 3' deep, then re-filling with quality potting soil w/ organic amendments, hydrated lime (acts as a buffer for less than ideal water pH) and perlite to prevent the soil from compacting. I can't recommend digging the plants up. That shocks them unless you do it exactly right.
