Hi Moominmamma here...just wanted to encourage you not to give up! I know that every woman's PCOS is different, but just wanted to tell you that I have severe PCOS symptoms, and fed all three of ours for as long as they wanted. I feel that the fact that you got pregnant naturally is very positive, hang on to that one and keep persevering.
You can also look for fenugreek at a natural food store or even some "hip" grocery stores. We have grocery stores here that have natural food aisles and they have tons of supplements including fenugreek. Call around, you'll find it for sure
I found the fenugreek. We'll see how everything works. The supplementer works well, when she'll let it into her mouth. I'm having trouble with the pumping. The moment the pumps are placed on my breasts, I feel like crying. I hate the feeling. If it weren't for looking over at Moire and seeing WHY I'm doing this, I'd give up. I just hate the pumping.
hang in there, you can do it! you're such an awesome mama. just think of the bragging rights you're going to have when this is all behind you. ps, i'm a pcoser too, and ended up with foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. as soon as i figured out what was going on it was pretty easy to fix, but maaaaaann.. us weird hormone gals sure have a lot more challenges to deal with.
Holly, I have a small SNS with two holding bottles boxed up for you. Do you still want it? If not, I won't send it (if you like the one you have, or don't need an other) if you do want it, let me know, and I'll send it to you. As for the Fenugreek only take the capsules, the tea is too hard to titrate properly. Take as much as the bottle says to take. The first day or two, you can take a half dose as your body gets used to it, but after 2 days, take what it says. Too little and it will have no effect. You will know when there is enough in your blood, when you start to smell like maples syrup. (I have more maple syrup smelling clients..... ) If that doesn't work, try to talk to your doctor about the Domperidone. It is better than Reglan. Although it is not "FDA approved" in the USA, it is not illegal. A compounding pharmacy can make it, with a doctor's prescription. If your doctor doesn't know how to prescibe it, and you can't get a hold of an LC who does, let me know, I can give you prescribing info. But, I can't prescribe. Good luck. Even if you do need to use some supplement, you will still be able to keep the baby at the breast.
*smells like maple syrup* Man, I'm craving waffles. LOL! Maggie, our little syringe SNS set up seems to be working well. So, thank you for offering but keep yours for a momma that is near you and is in need. And I think I might have another cause for this lack of milk supply... I'm still bleeding fairly heavily and fairly bright red. And I've passed large pieces of not blood clots. I know large blood clots. I've passed large-sized blood clots before during periods, clots larger than golfballs. These aren't clots. They're stringy and feel more solid than a clot. To me, it sounds like retained placenta. I called my midwife. She said she's not convinced. She seems fairly certain that I don't know what a large clot looks like. But the next time I pass one, I'll do the warm-water wash to wash most of the blood off of it, and then take it to the hospital during normal working hours, have them perform an ultrasound and then fix the problem. If this is in fact retained placenta, and I'm not just out of my mind and a hypochondriac, their obstetrics fellow has some major explaining to do for her "thorough" examination of my placenta without finding anything missing. Grr.
Holly (((((HUGS)))).....I'm not as knowledgable as a lot of other mommas here, but I can remember having the placenta arguement with my last midwife....in the end they decided I had a ragged placenta and that was why I passed some stringy old sold stuff.....have to say they told me not to worry as long as I didn't run a temperature, but I think you are wise to investigate it. The other thing I was just thinking, about your milk supply, you do seem to be doing a lot of running about the place, I wonder if this is adding to your stress, I feel us PCOS types are very stress vulnerable.
hey holly, you are sounding so totally normal as most mothers I ever meet are with all the differing things that are up and down after bubba actually arrives, congrats! My friend breastfed when bub first arrived and then for reasons bubba went bottle and then out of nowhere bubba decided that only breast would do, and believe me she wasn't even trying for it (cause I know what she's like!) but it all kicked back in so I figure with your determination to work things through you will get the balance back and sort things out...and if not you can always have a chat with my sister about whether she thinks not getting bottlefed while the rest of us got the boobie did actually made a difference for her ultimately in life! Keep doing what is working for you all right now and the fact that you are willing to try so hard is to me the most touching and important part of this!
