excuse my ignorance. but. whatever stupid psychologicl problems you's have for not eating meat, get over it. Were animals, were carnivourous animals, were sapose to eat meat, infact we should be hunting and tearing up our meat raw with our teeth.
humans not eating meat is as silly as a tiger only eating lettuce. for fuck sake.

if i had a girlfriend who turned vegetarian, it would be over. im sure alot of other people are with me. its just Fucking ridiculous.

We can live meatless. There is no sense to kill animals

Well, if we use your reasoning, we should be eating each other.

You know,I thought that one thing about being a hippy is that you respect others beliefs. I am a vegetarian and proud of it. It is my right. We all believe differently and I became a vegetarian due to my love for animals. I hate the way they are treated. They deserve to be treated with love and care. We aren't above them and they feel as we do. Furthermore, you wouldn't see me in a thread for carnivores saying "It's fucking ridiculous to eat meat" even though I don't like it. Mind your own business.

    no reason not to.
now slaughtering baby seals for unneaded fashion is wrong, but meat eaten is yummy. can I live without, sure. but because I can live without a computer, is it wrong to use one? there is more hate and dissension circulated via internet than anywhere, so you could make a good case for internet is murder.

people can eat meat or not
    it's a personal choice
you shouldn't be bashing someone because of what they eat
    it's just food
go eat a carrot, go eat a chicken whatever its your choice

aaaahhhh to be young and ignorant again......Thinking they know everything. Dude do a study on history and you will find that throughout most of history people were vegetarians. Its not until we lost out senses and thought it was a good idea to eat animals. Helps to know what the hell you are talking about......btw when you come into a forum and start ranting about psychological problems, people start to wonder about yours.

I wasnt bashing. I respect people that can actually be veggie, and were not for the first dozen or so years of thier life. I once wanted to be the perfect hippie and tried to give up meat because it was the hippie way. couldnt do it. the only time I have voluntarily been able to stay away for anylentgh of time was after I first ate lamb....oh it was so tender it melted in my mouth... but couldnt help feeling it was flesh...and...ug....but that didnt last long. I like my meat. I just try and eat meat that isnt cute before it dies.

it wasn't really directed at you
and like i said it's a personal choice
    i dohn't really care
my whole family still eats meat and i have to put up with it
i don't go around preeching 'my' way of doing things
i state my opinion and i respect others opinions
and i don't think being veggie is necessarily 'the hippie way'
just gotta live your own life regardless of what others do/did

So that's it, rummy. you come in here and are incredibly rude and hateful in many threads because you PERSONALLY couldn't do it?
you bash us because YOU failed? think about that. think where that takes a soul in the long term. that is bitter. and bitter breeds hate.
Can't you be better than that?

Why do you feel it's "fucking ridiculous"?

In the west we are at a level now of technological and economic advancement that it's incredibly easy to live off of vegetables alone.
There are a great many advantages to this. It can work out cheaper than being an omnlivore, it wastes less land resources, and other sentient beings don't have to go through suffering and don't have to be needlessly killed to sustain us. I also feel healthier and am more aware of my health by being a vegetarian. That's 4 advantages off the top of my head.

After some time being a vegetarian I now find the idea of eating meat quite alien. This feeling increases each day.

Billions of people across the world are vegetarians and have been for thousands of years. Look at countries in asia. I'm sure some of them also feel that meat-eaters are strange having been vegetarians since birth. Eating meat is a totally alien concept to them , like eating vegetables-only is a totally alien concept to you.

The only difference is that they can accept that other cultures and people have different ways of living and likes and dislikes whilst you can't.

If you really have such a big problem over something as trivial as what other people choose to eat then YOU are the one that probably has 'psychological problems' my friend.

    Good Luck with that.

    You are excused. =)

    Oh you mean kindness?

    Okay. *shoots you dead* :D

Actually, that's not true. Humans were originally nomads that did not eat any meat whatsoever, we wandered and found fruits and berries. Didn't you ever learn this in school?

Humans began eating meat when they realized that they coudl kill animals with tools. We ate meat only because, during the harsh Winters, natural food was scarce, and so we ate whatever we could get our hands on (animals). We are "opportunivores." And it's interesting to note how, cultures that are closer to the equator and have warmer Winters, eat a significantly smaller amount of meat.

As drumminmama once said, meat is great, it has served its evolutionary purpose, and now it's time to move on.

Not to mention the fact that, the average vegetarian lives 7 years longer than meat eaters, and the average vegan lives 15 years longer. (That means if you live to be 78 I will live to be 93. That's a big difference!)

Meat is unhealthy for the human body. It causes heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and a variety of other diseases. People who stop eating meat statistically have more energy, stamina, and strength. Meat contains incomplete proteins and saturated fats which are bad for humans, while vegetables contain complete proteins, unsaturated fats, and a diet that is rich in veggies almost always has all 9 essential amino acids, as well as most vitamins.

There is always the argument that vegetarian/vegans don't get enough (protein, iron, calcium, whatever you want) but this is simply not true. ANY UNBALANCED DIET is deficient in something. As long as you eat a varied diet, you will get everything you need. I have been vegan for 2 years, I do not supplement with vitamins, and according to my doctor I am not deficient in anything at all.

Surely you mom told you to eat your vegetables as a kid. Well, there is a reason for that!

Well it's no wonder you don't have a girlfriend! :H

Oh and if you take a wander over at the Love and Sex boards, you'd see several threads about how vegetarians actually taste better. ;) But don't spread that around, that's our little secret. :D

I would rather eat meat if i had caught the animal myself and cut it up etc... than eat the crap they sell in grocery stores! That is NOT the king of meat we are "supposed" to be eating as you say.
