Has anyone seen those new ads sponsored by changetheclimate.com? there all over the mtro in wash dc, theres one with this attrractive couple holding each other, and then it says "Have better Sex, Legalize and tax Marijuana" What do you guys think about that? Is it right or wrong to put ads like that up?
i think that them kinda ads hurt the movement more than they help it...if they wanna really do sumthin to legalize it, they need to start posting there own studies...and testimonials from successful people who are willing to come out and say hey i smoke pot and look at me....but not people like rappers or rock stars, but successful people, who show that u can actually smoke pot and get things done......thats about it...they should also do a comparison on the dangers of pot vs those of alcohol and tobacco...stuff liek that...not have better sex.....
Who sez musicians aren't successful? Though I see what you're saying though, we should also look for testimonials from people that are "successful" in the eyes of those who wouldn't normally be disposed towards pot legalization. I haven't seen any of these ads, but I think it's a good thing. The mere fact that there are actually ads out there now that espouse weed legalization and weed use should start changing minds, it shows that we're climbing out of the underground and the mainstream might have to give some consideration to pot-users. It's just a sign that we're gaining strength. I don't mind the sex message either, it's just to catch peoples' attention. They should perhaps give a website link to someplace that compares studies and facts and all that, people aren't going to have the patience to stand there and read marijuana studies statistics off a metro ad.
no, but when you compare 1 fact at a time, with several fact comparisons, over several different signs, in several different areas...along with "short" enticing testimonial's that directly refer to and contradict, the fact you are disproving, then the message will slowly get out.......not by throwing up signs that would offend people......i wouldnt want my kid to see a sign that said, smoke pot and have good sex......but thats just me......subtle facts that discredit what has been told...and facts that show how much federal money is devoted to combating a pretty much harmless drug because the gov cant regulate it....therefor putting people in jail, who have no reason to be there, and are not a threat to society, costing us billions of dollarws a year...for what..to keep the killer pot offf of the streets....i mean not to quote a movie or nuttin...but u ever see a man suck a dick for some weed??????......go figure....
I think its right. I mean they are allowed to post beer and ciggerette ads. In my opinion those things are much worse. Beer is legal and that fucks you up good, so why not legalize maryjane? People do it anyways, plus the gov. would bring in soooo much money from it. It benefits all...
if i was to have a marijuana add, it would just list the benefits of alcahol, cannabis, and tobacco on one page. people could make there own assumptions after that. the problem is peole have been exposed to that DARE/reefer madness bullshit for so long, its been engrained into there being that weed is bad. so by having adds like this that even mention cannabis as being somewhat helpful, definetly benefit all of our cause. theo
i always thought it would be cool if say i was a billionarie one day to make pro weed ads on tv altough i would imagine some wiener organizations wouldnt like that and try to stop me after a while
I think that some of the ones they are posting are good like this one http://www.changetheclimate.org/images/gilmore.jpg and the innocent people in jail one. The have better sex one just seems like it is lying to people to get them to take our side. There is plenty of true information that would turn people to our side if they heard it and believed it. Lies like this make it harder for people to believe the actual true stuff because if we lied before they think we will lie again. They had those two good ads but the others are just screwing things up.
I'm surprised Clear Channel hosted that ad, SmotPoker. The whole issue is so stupid, just like Gay Marrage. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just that it's not a norm on society. What's worse is that the cops don't enforce it well where I am - the cops at outdoor concerts see that stuff happen all the time and don't do anything. I go to a nicey-nice private school, and there are more potheads than ciggaret smokers. Our government's fighting a losing battle - why can't they just realise the whole "say no" thing failed miserably and try something else? Another reason why I'm Green. . . Pro-legalisation and pro-rehabilitation to serious junkies, instead of just throwing them in the can.
DarkLunacyLeast someone jumped off the soapbox and did something about it i'm seriously thinking of sponsoring a billboard if i can raise enuf funds.....i'm gonna call the # under the empty billboard in town in the morning to see how much it would cost to rent....i'm sure that the organization would pay to put it up...i hope anyway.......
It seems to have worked when they were petitioning against cannabis. They used the same types of posters and stuff.
It's awesome to see that there's organizations finally taking a stand. But they might be hurting more than helping. I mean "Have better sex"? Come on. And then the one that's like "Why do they throw us in jail for doing what politicians did when they were young?". That's irrationally accusing the people we need to be on our side. I agree, put up some ads just stating tobacco and alcohol VS marijuana. They had one stating deaths caused. But not that other BS
Just look at my signature!!! There is some ads in boston too. It's great. I want to work for changetheclimate when I get older.
speaking on the con side of leagalisation, does anybody remember those terrible adds in sports illustrated and time and newsweek and all that? the ones that went: Today I went on a walk Then Bought my groceries then, I tortured someones dad to death Buying marijuana supports terrorism, is it really worth it? and all that was overlayed onto a black and white photo of a latino. those really pissed me off. but organizations like norml appealed to the supreme court and go tthe dEA to take them down. i felt better after that.
