I got the paragard IUD a few months ago, and I got it because I didn't want hormones.. the mirena iud with hormones seemed to cause all kinds of crap like weight gain and loss of sex drive.. and hair falling out..

well so does the non-hormone one ! It seems that I am definately not alone in noticing my hair is falling out in lumps. I found that it has something to do with the copper depleting zinc.. so I got zinc lozenges..

However it says not to take them more than 3 days in a row.. which doesn't seem like it'd do anything since the IUD will be there 10 years..

The pills have 30 mg vitamin C and 23mg Zinc... Does that seem like too much to take daily?

I would have gotten a pill but none were vegetarian so I got the lozenges..

I assume this wouldn't effect the IUD though, right? I mean, the copper changes the lining of the uterus........ I don't want to counterbalance it until it doesn't work :p

Your body can tolerate a lot of zinc. I take as much as 200mg a day when I feel a cold coming on. (but I also take a supplement with copper since zinc depletes it) I only do that for a few days though. I take 30mg a day normally. Vitamin C is also well tolerated.

Of course, I really don't how that would affect your IUD. (I didn't mean that sarcastically)

I hope things go better for you.

    Best Wishes
