While walking down a sidewalk in the main street of a small town like Stratford, Ontario I recall following a small group of people while a friend of mine was walking behind me. I looked at a bed of flowers and for some reason came to the realization that what I was experiencing was not the same reality as my waking life. I then turned to my friend behind me and exclaimed “I’m dreaming, we’re dreaming, this is a dream”. He said nothing and looked at me smugly as if to say “What took you so long to find out?”. Rather than leaving the dream as I normally do when I realize it is not “real”, this time I just came to accept it as reality rather than question it and I just continued to experience the dream.

Was this a lucid dream? Astral projection?

I count it as a lucid dream.
Reminds me of this one time I dreamt it was the opening night for theatre production I was in that was going up really soon. The show was a complete disaster and I ended up humping a tambourine (which makes a little more sense in context). About halfway through I turned to my director and asked "This is a dream right?" He said "Yea, don't worry about it." Boy was I relieved.

yes i think it was. usually when you dream of something unfathomable or impossible, then your mind realizes it cant be true and therefore you kno you're dreaming. it's wierd, isn't it?
