I applied to college on Monday, and I think I'll get in, because my mom is friends with the lady who is in charge of everything. I'm scared, though, because it's been so long since I left school, I'm out of practice. I'm also sure that I'll do terribly in Math when I take that COMPASS thing. If it works out, I'll eventually be a high school history teacher.... my big goal is to be on the History Channel, but I have to pick something to specialize in so I look really smart. Unless I can find a way to learn everything possible. It's hard to pick a certain time, though, because I think all history is awesome. I guess I like early American and Civil War history.... up until the last cowboy died. But I also love Ancient Egypt, and Rome and all the emperors.... Agh! I don't know! Anyway, cross your fingers that I don't act like a totaly moron when I go to meet the Dean next week. Eck.
good luck getting in. i wouldn't worry so much about doing badly, you have a goal, to be a history teacher, so just work towards that and you'll be fine. you know what you want to become, so work valiantly towards that and you'll achieve it. *i'll be watching the history channel...
Oh my gosh! Were we separated at birth or what? I am a history major at Berry College. I am terrible at Math. My goal is to be on the History Channel International in London. I like Early American history but not the Civil War. I also love Ancient Egypt, Tree Hugger can tell you that, and I love Rome and it's history. I am also having trouble picking a specialization.
Oh! Maybe we're sisters! haha.... history is just so damn cool... I don't see how everyone isn't as into it as I am.... Isn't there a quote that says something like If you ignore your history, you're doomed to relive it in the future or something.... I don't know. I heard a guy say it on the History Channel.... Maybe we could be on together!!! Do you guys have the new "video game technology" battle renactments on your History Channel? I don't like it. It looks dumb. And now we have this Command Decisions thing where you can pretend to be a general and "pick" what happens or something... it's dumb. And they never show Haunted History anymore. Blah!
If you really love history check out this website. www.berry.edu/oakhill This is where I work. The story is on the website.
the COMPASS is easy. basically everything you need for it is probably in trig for dummies, but if you're taking it and start getting alot of algebra 2 questions it means you missed some of the initial trig questions and haven't gotten many of the subsequent ones correct. If you're going to become a world history teacher look into becoming certified to teach AP classes, best way to ensure you have smart, energenic students.
