I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack Okay what I wanna know is how come nobody told me about NYC Diesel?????????????????????? BEST EVER!!! The aftertaste was so wonderful I was smacking my mouth!!!! The very first hit made me smile from ear to ear! I must say it may not have been as strong as Amnesia Haze or Grey Haze, but it was just as good or better because of the taste. It was complete love at first smoke (yes, I kissed the bag ). I tried White Shark, but to be honest didn't like the effect as much as the hazes... guess I found I'm a sativa girl, although I saw on the menus in 2 other coffeeshops saying it was an indica, I was told at Amnesia that it was a sativa by some pretty knowledgeable budtenders and I tended to agree because of the feeling it gave me, just weird that 2 other places would have it listed as an indica <shrug>. I also found that Power Plant was quite nice, a 50/50 mix for those times when you're not flying around a city. Neville's Haze was also excellent from Grey Area. I found I liked to buy my smoke at Amnesia and Grey Area or Tweede Kamer the most. I did buy some from the Coin, Rokerij and Softland as well and I think (hope) they're good lol *~wink~* WOW did customs do a number on my suitcase lol I guess they were hoping for something. I didn't know they searched it until I found a box of cookies I had bought called Speculaas slit open at one end. Neener neener neener lololol nuttin in there hunny Most people feel invaded by that, I laughed lolol still do when I think about it. Buncha let down customs agents thinkin' they were making a score *~smile~*I DO have a question about a yellow tag being on your suitcase when it comes from inspection... some had that yellow tag, some didn't from the same flight. What did that mean? I KNOW it doesn't mean those are the one's that got searched because my friends was searched (they could tell by the inside as well) and they didn't have a yellow tag, so what's up with that??????? Someone enlighten me. I noticed the yellow tag said POS on the back of it with my name on the other side... thought it may have meant "positive" for smell. Hell, everything I OWNED smelled in there lol like I would be stupid enough to put anything in my luggage after being in 14 coffeeshops. My favorite coffeeshop hands down to hang out was Amnesia. I also enjoyed Tweede Kamer but you have to get the good seats and there were only a few... I was lucky and did. Also got to know a few locals. I didn't find the Dutch to be rude at all and the culture was so diverse, yet peaceable for the most part, something I truly loved. I think you get what you give. I gave big old smiles and very friendly hellos and was never disappointed. I tried the hash brownies and the hash milkshake from Abraxas and it didn't really do much for me. I ate them at separate times, of course, but you need more than a half a gram to do any good, I think and they only contain 1/2 a gram each. Maybe if I would have consumed all 3 at the same time... was afraid to overdo it though. Something else I discovered while over there was mint tea made with FRESH mint leaves YUMMMMMMMMM I will be making my own here now that I know how and thinking of my sweet A'dam when I do. I absolutely loved my hotel and the location on the Singel, just LOVELY with a canal view on the 4th floor not too far from the Jordaan and the COOL open market they have on Saturdays! I thoroughly enjoyed the open market there as well as the brown cafe with the bitterballen & cheese souffle's YUM lots of locals there too. Honestly the closest thing I found to anyone being rude was at the open market but I just ignored it because it wasn't everyone, just a few. That's to be expected anywhere you go. I shall return as soon as I can get back there, no doubt in my mind. Thank you for all the tips before I went, friends and Nemesis your map was the BEST!!!! I used it daily until I got to know my way around. Peace, islandgurl
Hey there, glad your trip was great. Yes the Diesel was awesome, sour diesel was tasty too. Sounds like you enjoyed your stay in lovely A dam. Im trying to find a way to get back there by end of year, November or even NYE. Wishful thinking but I have a few things to work out the next few months, I stay on track, Im there for sure. We will see. peace Mikeymike
great stuff there glad you had a good time I must produce a JPEG of my map so people can print it out.
People can print it now it just takes some thinking, which I'm good at lol What you do is right click on the map, select "save as" which will save it as a picture. Then go to your pictures and print it out. It will then because I did it that way. When I couldn't get it to print, I just put my brain together and came up with a solution. I'm one of those "where there's a will there's a way" kind of people and believe me I have will *~wink~* I suggest EVERYONE going to the Dam for the first time print out and bring your map, Nem. Better than ANY book!! Peace, islandgurl
OH YEAH! Someone please answer my question Re: the yellow tag on the luggage from customs PLEASE! I've tried researching it but came up with nothing.
yes your right islandgurl, you can print it that way. What I'll do when I've got some free time is make a black & white JPEG. I printed it myself in colour last time I went, but it rained pretty much every day and the print out got slightly wet and all the colours ran into one another, maybe just my printer or the ink I used.? A black & white photocopy is best as the colours won't run. -------------------------------------------------------------- About the customs thing, am I right in saying that your main luggage bag got searched without you being present.? Surely thats not allowed. I thought they searched bags when you arrive home walking through the declare/non declare sections and not behind the scenes. I went with a mate once and he had a sticker on his bag saying that it passed the security check but I had nothing on my luggage. He had no padlocks but I did on mine, no idea what it was about. I would be livid if my bag was opened without me being there. Maybe it's all totally random spot checks. Use padlocks I guess.
Oh yes they did check my bag without me there! They slit open one of the boxes of cookies that were in there also with a box cutter... did the same thing to my friends cookies and they DIDN'T have the yellow tag. Some bags did, some didn't, but this was in the U.S., Nem. You're in the UK, different laws. However, I DO know that you can't lock your luggage anymore here. They have to be able to get in it. You can lock it but you have to buy a special lock that is able to be opened by customs. YEP. Sucks, huh? I never carry a thing in my luggage anyway (not that stupid) but it just goes to show that "Big brother is watching and can do as he pleases". I always thought you had to give consent to search as well, Nem. Some guy greeted me with plastic gloves, scared the shit outta me... not because I was carrying anything but because he looked like my gynecologist lololol He just asked to see my passport and told me to go on; DAYUMMMM I could have brought a years worth! I want some NYC Diesel <sniff sniff> I'm a desperate potsmoker... I think that would make a better show than deperate housewives!! Y'all send some NYC Diesel my way, ya bogarts!!!! peace, islandgurl
Know what else I thought was funny? The teeny tiny cars! I thought to myself "Gee, wonder what THAT'S gonna be when it grows up?"
Blimey.! I had no idea US customs could do that to luggage, thats outrageous. I really feel for all you Americans with your draconian laws on marijuana, even seeds are illegal to carry which is ridiculous. Opening up someones luggage without the owner being there is unbelievable stuff. Talk about invasion of ones privacy taken to the extreme. As far as I know in the UK they can't do this, you have to be present through the search, also they need some sort of written warrant to conduct a body search or a car, house search, etc. You just refuse politely and they will either let you on your way or actually get the warrant. Most people are unaware of this law in the UK. Anyway, bet your planning another trip back to A'dam I would imagine. LOL.
HAHAHAHAHAHA have been for DAYS. I'm hoping for October but we shall see... Is it expensive there in October? Cheaper than summer, I would assume (hope lol) Anybody know about October? Peace, islandgurl P.S. I feel for us Americans too :$
hey island girl, grey diesel (grey area sour diesel) was my #1 pick and top recommendation to you silly glad you enjoyed yourself! P.S. October is cheap for airfare and for rooms but cold.......September is much better as far as temperature
Hey Koopa, I'll get around in adding those extra coffeeshops you came across to my map, btw. Just been busy but should have some free time soon, no worries and cheers again. I'll make a new thread about it probably.
sounds great nem......i'm glad that my hobby (I am the christopher columbus of coffeeshops) supports your hobby! LOL
LMFAO Thanks for the laugh this morning, y'all crack me up... and koop, I think you make a FINE Christopher Columbus of coffeeshops! I did try the Grey Diesel from Grey Area and that was GREAT, but there's just nothing in the world like NYC Diesel!!!!! Boy Amnesia Haze was AWESOME as far as strength and time it lasts... that and the Grey Haze from Grey Area WOW... High lasted for hours! I admit the high lasted longer from the last two I just mentioned, but NYC Diesel was so unique it took home my top prize. When I think of it even now, I still smack my lips. NYC Diesel RULES lol and I wanna go back to the dam NOW. Has anyone ever sent anything 4 day airmail from the dam to the states? Does it usually take longer than 4 days? Peace, islandgurl
hey island gurl, "grey diesel" is either a) grey mist x nyc sour diesel b) grey area nyc sour diesel so either way it was practically the same thing as the "nyc sour diesel" you fell in love with never tried 4 day air mail but if its coming from XXX then it will take much longer
It was just a hypothetical question, I didn't send anything myself However, I AM going through Amsterdam withdrawals I swear. I'm already planning my next trip months from now even if I have to go by myself!
Islandgurl, Im planning another trip my self end of year, somewhere between Oct and End of November. Will know more end of August, some changes will be happening the next few months at work, have to see where things settle. If your game, we can hang out and smoke ALOT of diesel, I miss it too. let me know, peace mikeymike
