why do you guys think about the newest cheese studio album, one step cloesr? i think it came out like last fall, and i got it for christmas. but i never really heard any discusion about it, it just kinda came out and then faded back real quick. i heard sometimes a river on the radio a few times though.

i recentely "remembered" it and gave it another listen, and i do like it, there's a lot of really solid tunes on there, but it doesn't feel whole. like it's not a cohesive journey of an album, the songs just seem to stand on there own for me atleast.

it's mellow, mostly acoustic, which is a nice switch up, and it feels self-reflective, like it's easy to imagine them writing those songs. i never feel distanced from cheese's music though.

    what did you guys think?

The only radio stations I hear jam bands on are the sattelite radio stations...nothing local or anything.

there are atleast 3 public or college stations around me that frequently play jam bands....i can't believe you guys wouldnt have a a decent college station that would have "jam hour" or something like that.....and i know that grateful dead hour is nationally syndicated so i'm sure you have a station somewhere near you that is playing plenty of dead. i forget the website, but search 'grateful dead hour' and they have a site that with a list of stations that play it.

I didn't like the album, it's too drab and boring for me.

I just got it about a month ago, and I really like it a lot. It's not like the other albums, but that's what I like about it. I love when bands change up their sound and experiment with new sounds. I'm definitely enjoying it.

sounds like I need to give the boys another shot: I'd gone to the Honkytonk side.
as for college radio, even Fayetteville, Ark., has a great jam show run by Daniel Gold (old friend and former editor of mine from Honest Tune Magazine) that streams online.
but in Boulder, it's rare to hear SCI on air. Sad, eh? they flipping live here.
