I was thinking about it, and I was wondering about how hippies look to outside cultures and how hippies look at outside cultures. I was thinking that hippies seem to have the right answers to life's questions, which is why the culture hasnt died after 4 decades... Do you think that some hip folks give off a condescending tone? Like the whole thing on this forums, the way we discuss things equally and give both sides, the way we take care of the earth twice as much as others, the way was give each genre of music a chance.. how we look out for the betterment of the whole world.... does that rub off in a snotty tone? like "Well I picked up your garbage..."
What's your opinion? is it possible that we're all stuck up on a cloud (of smoke:p) that we created?

It's sorta funny, I've been thinking about that quite a bit lately. About how our culture (the hippie culture) is a bit like, lets say, fundamentalist Christianity in the sense that both cultures sometimes look down upon others for not doing what we consider is right. In order to stop this (rather frightening) comparison, I think we, as hippies, just need to act in a compationate way towards those of other cultures in order to show them the way, rather that preaching at them.

Live and let live. I think if you're judging somebody else you're already wrong, no matter what you're doing or what they're doing.

There's a secret organization called S.H.T.T.P.A.C (Society of Holier Than Thou Passive Agressive Commandos) who's members are masters of disguise. You'll find them in any organization or group of people anywhere.

You're just as likely to find them wearing dreads as any other costume.

Teach (by example) don't preach (was that too preachy?)

Contiune to do what you do, what makes you happy or what you find to be right.
Just dont badger people aobut how your ways are better ect like why they should change. though feel free to educate them should the ask or seem intrested.

I think part of the reason why Hippies tend to be judgemental similar to the way some Christians are (albeit in completely different directions) because people judge us all the time ("Hey hippy, get a haircut!" "Move to Canada ya pinko!" "Fucking hippy!"). With this type of criticism, we're going to be more hard on the society that beats down on us. We're going the be annoyed that people use the soccer mom excuse to get an SUV, because those are the same people who tell us to get haircuts. Does that make any sense?

It seems to me we're like the leftovers of society. Everyone who doesn't fit in and accept anywhere else becomes a hippy. We're the individuals because there are Christian, Buddhist and Hindu hippies there are vegan and carnivore hippies. There are hippies who smoke and those that don't etc etc. I wasn't brought up a hippy but to me, from the outside hippies seem like the best. The least judgemental most importantly and the ones who follow all religious doctrine better than those who claim to actually be believers in that religion.

    That's what I think.

I don't judge other cultures and what not. Like punks, I love 'em. They're really groovy people once you look into them....
