And, baby girls heartbeat is strong enough to hear without the little box....the doctor let me hear it through the stethescope (sp?). :D He said she's kicking right along.
He said everything looked perfect. He pushed around on my belly and said '24, looks good.'....I guess he meant size of her baby bag by that? He told me that if I keep gaining weight at the pace I am (I've gained 13 pounds total) that I should have very little to no stretch marks, so that's pretty exciting.
Just thought I'd share my good news. :p I've got a healthy baby.

stretch marks have nothing to do with how much weight you gain. I gained 70 lbs with my first, and didn't have any stretch marks until after the cesarean! It is hereditary whether you get them or not, and it's a factor of your skin's elasticity and nothing you can do about it either way, unless you have scars from surgeries and then you will get them no matter what, like I did.
congrats on hearing the heartbeat! It's so exciting, isn't it?! :)

    awww, that's cute!
I loved hearing Leane's heartbeat in my belly. It felt weird but wonderful.
lol, if that is the case, you're lucky about the stretch marks. I gained a ton of weight, Leane was HUGE and my belly looks like a road map now.....saggy and mushy....gutta love the mommy tummy.:D :p

    Yes. It's great. :D
I've been taking lots of belly pictures! My doc told me that since everything seems to be going perfectly, I'm not going to get another sonogram until right before she's born, if then.
Holly (If I remember correctly), yes, he likes the name! His mom said it was pretty and so did my mom. So, we're between that one and Avery right now.

This is great! It is so cool to hear that heartbeat! When your doctor said "24" he was refering to the cm measured between the fundus (highest point of your uterus) and the pelvic bone. In most healthy singleton pregnancies, the cm measures up to the number of weeks, after 18 weeks. It means the baby is growing just right. (A few cm off isn't bad, either, though.)

I got really big with my babies, had sections and never got stretch marks. I think it is genetic, depending on how elastic your skin is, like Mamaboogie said. I have a few on by butt, but none on my belly at all. I also had my last baby at 38, so I know age has nothing to do with it, either. To me, it always seemed like the mamas whose bellies grew steadily all along got less stretch marks then those who didn't show until 7 months and then all of a sudden got huge, but I can't confirm that scientifically, just from observation.

Congrats on a healthy baby! I got millions of stretch marks my first pregnancy, and I gained 40 lbs, but my mom also had lots of stretch marks so I kind of figured I would get them too. It still sucked though. The second time I didn't get any - probably because there was no more skin to stretch - my stomach is more stretch marks than skin. Does it look pretty ? - Not really. Would I change it? - nope. Its just skin, and babies are way more important than skin...

Awww, I love hearing the heartbeat!! I'm due about 3 weeks after you with a baby girl too!! I have only gained 5 pounds so far, with my son I was up 12 pounds at this point. I gained 37 pounds total and had no stretch marks. I think it has to do with the elasticity of your skin. I have always moisturized my stomach, so I believe a lifetime of that helped. Let's see the marks this baby leaves me...LOL!

I have some stretchmarks on my hips and butt from where I used to be pretty big when I was younger, then I guess some were caused when I grew to be a whole 5'3. :p
My dad's mom never got stretchmarks with any of her 3 babies, and that's the side of the family I take most after. My mom got them, but her mother didn't....and she had 10 kids! So, I'm hoping I have good enough genes to keep me from getting them. But, I wouldn't complain, as the end result will be worth all the pain and stretchmarks in the world. :D
    (Congrats, jgirl!)
