I loved the idea of having to live in a village surrounded by monsters but M. Night Shyamalan took a great idea like that and fucked it up so bad to the point where it couldn't be saved. On the other hand I really wasn't that pissed off because I got to see Joaquin Phoenix for two hours.

I don't think you guys see a good movie when its staring you in the face. Firstly I loved how the previews were missleading. I kept thinking, "wow, I dont actualy know the whole movie before I go and see it." Secondly the acting in was some of the best I have seen in a couple of years. People that bitch about how the movie wasnt scary makes me want to slap you. Please tell me what movie of M. Nights movie is scary, he doesnt do horror he does thriller/suspense. Thirdly the story line was incredible, it says so much about todays society and how you can never escape the pains of loss from loved ones, and also what you will do for the ones you love. The ending did leave a little to be desired, but did he really need to spell it out for you.

I loved how the movie messed with your mind, it was actualy something orginal and exciting. The reasons you guys have for disliking it seem trivial, I.E. "It wasn't scary." Well boo fucking hoo.

    heheh, that's what I did ;)

Anyway, I liked the movie. I thought the plot/storyline was fairly original, but the way it panned out could've been better. I had never seen previews for it before going to the theatre, though, so I guess I couldn't have been "mislead" or whatever. But, the twist was kind of easy to figure out.

It's definately in my top ten list.
There was nothing I didn't like about it. The ending wasn't super-duper, but it wasn't horrible either, IMO.

Ok First of all, was this the summer for "3 Rule Movies?" I robot, 3 rules... and now the village, also 3 rules. What the hell? You see the preview for this movie and you're either like, "damn that looks scary," or "that looks stupid like I Robot." The movie was good up until you finds out that the monsters aren't real, which really sucked. And then it got even worse when Adrian Brody died. And the end was terribel because the people can't accept that life will always be tough and you can't run away from your problems. They just kept on living a lie and a sham of a life. I left the theater feeling pissed and confused about this travesty.

I liked the movie. Although it wasn't what I expected, it did make me think.

I'm surprised how so many of you girls are all into Joaquin. He plays Johnny Cash in a movie that is being shot here in Memphis. I play a reporter in the movie and I shot a scene where I had to be all up in his face asking him questions and stuff. He seemed like a really nice guy. And he looks just as good in person as he does on screen!

I saw it today and although it wasn't quite what I was expecting, I still though it was good, especially as it was so mileading in places. I though the 'monster' was quite scary really, compared to many anyway, but then again I've always had a thing about cloaks . Very cleaver ideas though, and pulled of without any sex or bad language and little violance, although sadly the lack of the latter seems to stop something being a real horror film in most people's (including my own) minds.

i agree with the majority. the movie was a huge let down. and yes, i think most the acting was lame. Besides, what father would really send his blind daughter out in the woods whether or not it was safe? When your blind you still can't see anything...hence the reason she almost fell in the hole. You can't run that fast in the woods, at least for me, i have a hard time running real fast in the woods b/c i'm trying to make sure i'm not going to run into anything. Right? I don't know, I had the chance to see Collatarol but passed it up b/c I'm always in the mood for a good thrill...but I should have known.

    I loved that movie.

It had wonderful acting, the swist in the plot were extremely interesting. The cinematography made the movie so beautyful, I loved the still nature, the water, and the wheat fields shots.... they gave the movie so much more sunstance. The ending itself was also a tad soft, yet wonderful. I loved the idea of an isolated society, thier perfectly functional, fear controlled commune.

This movie was horrible. M. Night Shamalyan should seriously re-think how he writes movies. The Sixth Sense was ok. Unbreakable was bad. Signs was typical. Then this comes out and just confused the hell out of me. At the end when the credits rolled, I was just like "Oooooooook"

I think totally on the contrary, The sixth sense is over-rated, I mean, the spasms are completely typical, well, the ending is good. And, on the contrary, Unbreakable is a very original movie, it's not a great movie, but it's well made and it's something original in the American cinema that is a great novelty. I couldn't watch Signs yet but i'm not attracted by it at all.

PS And please, don't tell us so much parts of the movie. In Spain it's about to released, so we have not watched it yet. Please... :p

the credits were the best part of the movie. overall it blew, and like someone said before. the trailers were very misleading

oh and i thought the "monster" was too complicated to be scary

Ok, I really don't like talking about things like this, not with people who would bring them up anyway.

How would the aliens know that water would kill them on contact? If they are so suseptable to it, do you really think it is abundant on their planet? I really don't think they put this much thought into, but, if they were silicone based (which I think they mentioned in the movie) they wouldn't have the working knowledge of the bonds that hydrogen make (standard knowledge for us). But mabey I am just reaching because I really like this movie.

As for the sixth sense, that just shows you don't pay ANY attention to the movie, AT ALL. The little boy says that the ghosts only see what they want to see. Thats why he didn't know that the door to the cellar was locked, thats why he thought he was wearing his wedding ring, and thats why he couldn't see the gunshot. The little boy let him do what he couldn't while he was alive, save the little boy.

sorry if someone already said this.

If you ever have the chance to see another M. Night Shyamalan don't expect a scary movie, doing so only says you have never seen a Shyamalan movie.
:) Ok, I feel better, all are entitled to their opinions, but my opinion is, people who criticize movies they don't pay attention to keep people from seeing really good movies.

i guess the thing is though, that theres too much to think about with his movies. personally i thought sixth sense and signs was ok. but the village just didnt strike me as ok or anything.
but in my opinion, Shyamalan leaves us with too much to think about.

This is what I noticed...About 50% of people who see it love it to death, and the other 50% either hate it or are quite indifferent....and just remember that im making up these numbers...

Second, I agree with what someone said on here, none of his movies are scary, he just pulls Hitchcok's and hrows wild crazy tiwsts in it.

Third, I don't usually cry in movies, but when Noah died, i got a bit choked up, so to all those who say it was bad acting, do any of you act? Do any of you write screenplays...Its difficult work, why do you think they get paid so much...?

Fourthly, the first thing my brother says to me as we walk out of the theater, is "Wow, just like the US is." and I must totally agree, i don't think it was intentional, but the way they are kept in fear, is almost the same way the government and the media in the states controlls you to make you think there is some iminante threat of some horrible thing just around the corner or in your back yard or on your choilds TV program that you all look to the all powerfull GW Bush for support...Sorry if im ranting, but did anyone else notice this...?
