The best advice I ever got was from the song "My Conviction" from the "Hair" soundtrack.. "Be free. Do whatever you wanna do, be whoever you wanna be, just so long as you don't hurt anybody."

What's the best advice you've ever recieved?

"This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man." Hamlet I.iii.78-80

I guess I should have put all of Polonius's speech then. It had a ton of advice similar to "looking both ways." ;)

"'through the years, as my buildings have fallen apart, i've worried about it with all of my heart. but now,' said the once-ler, 'now that you're here, the word of the lorax seems perfectly clear. UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. it's not. SO... Catch!' calls the once-ler. he lets something fall. 'it's a truffula seed. it's the last one of all! you're in charge of the last of the truffala seeds, and truffula trees are what everyone needs. plant a new truffula. treat it with care. give it clean water. and feed it fresh air. grow a forest. protect it from axes that hack. then the lorax and all of his friends may come back."

Put a pencil on the floor. Now try to pick it up. Thing is, you can't try to pick a pencil up. You either have to pick it up or leave it. There is no third option! That's kind of a simple way to look at the do's, dont's and "try"s of life.

I leaned this from my counselor, who is actually one of the coolest people I know.
