My partner and I are having a yard sale at his house on Friday, Saturday, and possibly, if there is stuff left, Sunday too. I have TONS of stuff to sell... For those of you have done yard sales before, how much do you usually make? I've done them before, but it's been about seven or eight years. Adam and I are trying to get some extra money to drive out to the Gathering next week. We have some money saved, but gas is looking to be more expensive than I had anticipated. I hope I make at least two hundred bucks.
depends on how long since the last sale (well, really on how much crap I have to sell, which is related to how long since I went through my junk and sold a bunch of it off) first yard sale ever, I think I made about $800 over two or three weekends a few hundred since and as of late, just 50ish bucks, but taht's because my grandma hosts them up two hours norht, it's really just kid stuff of mine to sell and most has been sold aside from the stuff I want to keep
I have some kids toys, lots of household stuff, women's clothing, dishes, a table and chair dining set, books, and random other things...I have nine boxes worth of stuff, plus two microwaves...and Adam has some stuff too, plus I've already taken one load of stuff over to his house. He lives in a college town and on a road with lots of traffic, so...I'm hoping we will do pretty well.
Oh, around here you can easily make $200 in a day, that's how we always raised spending money for me with my school trips. I figure if you can make that much in a dinky little town like this, you should have a lot better outcome in a college town.
mostly I sold off toys and clothes from when I was younger. It's in a somewhat low income city, so everyone buys used if they can especially for kids stuff, and it was like 14 years worht of kids stuff at that time (Canadian dollars mind you) sounds like you should be able to make a couple hundred bucks easy. But don't forget to advertise too, even if it's just signs at the end of your road (though an ad in the paper will get you more hits)
If I have a garage sale where I'm selling pieces of furniture, not just clothes and books and toys, I'll easily make a few hundred in a day....
yard sales, this reminds me of my old neighbors, the Hillyers, They had yard sales or garage sales every year with just about any thing you can think of in it. Rather large, I think they went to other yard sales and bought things and then marked up the price. Very nice people too, I really miss them. They have both passed away.
