Hi! I've only been a couple of times, once for a night out, it was brilliant. Jibbering records (a great shop in Mosely) put on a evening with 8 local bands, lots of ska maybe they're still putting on nights? If they are, get down.
I liked it, and the accent is hilarious. hope you have a good time there. x

Hey, i lived the past 18 years in birmingham, but am currently at university away. Birmingham can be an amazing place, and is ever changing every day.
There is a large choice of things to do at night.

I advise going to the Custard Facotry, in Digbeth not far from the Bullring shopping centre. It's quite small, but its the alternative district, where the arty sort of things happen, and a cooool hang out point, and of course the Icon gallery in the centre along the canel is pretty groovy.

About rent, I really do not know where would be cheapest, but you should try and avoid some areas if you can such as Aston, Newtown, some parts of Perry Barr, they can be quite rough andhave some gang crime and high gun crime.

hope you have an awesome time in Birmingham, and make the most of the city
    peacex

I used to live in Birmingham
Take a bus to the Lickey Hills - a number 61
Its a large forest with some very pretty village life going on
its about 30 minutes by bus from the city centre (20 from Selly Oak) you can spend hours just
exploring the place and getting into nature

You might want to check out these pubs - they are classic brummy pubs
and well worth a visit Coach and Horses - northfield
All the Selly Oak pubs - The Q club (if its still there)

more interesting places is the art gallery and science museum

cheapest areas are too rubbish - they are not good places to go - (gangs etc)
so head for Moseley / Kings Heath / Selly Oak / Erdington and rent a place in one of those areas

birmingham. spent an hour trying somewhere to park before a gig once. ended up in a freaky multistory ages away, so had to pay for a taxi. and it was raining. no offence to anyone from birmingham, but it has got to be one of the most annoying accents in the UK- my cousins live there and call hobnob biscuits herb-nerbs... :H
