I'm new to this site so hello everyone. I've had a read through some of the other threads here and it looks like it's gonna be a source for information. My question is if anybody here can give advise for going clubbing in Amsterdam? I'm going to be out there in two weeks from Wednesday to Friday and although i'll listen to any music, I was wondering if there are clubs you guys could recommend. I'm particularly interested in ones with a good ratio of females (not prostitutes, lol) to men. Thanks in advance for any advise you give.....

lol.... VegasPat beat me to it. Theres a good section on clubs on the above link too. From expereince in amsterdam the club scene is pretty good, coming from a fairly small city (York) its better by a factor too high to compute!! The clubs in Amsterdam are easily on par with those of leeds. In terms of tips I offer the following: Courtesy always pays off. I dont know what its like down in Windsor, but up here bouncers and doormen get a lot of shit, in Amsterdam they wont stand for it and you will be ejected from the queue. They get a lot of loud mouthed Brits and they dont wan't their club being labbelled as a tourist brit club. Any trouble, just smile and back down - always!!! Dress well. Not everywhere asks for a dress code and its easy to have a great night out in something other than your best! However if you meet a young lady, who will naturally want to head to the more exclusive places, you want to ensure a smooth entry. Most the clubs i went in had a fairly even male/female ratio. The only thing that upsets this balance tends to be Stag parties or football matches. If you walk in and see all men.... you are probably in the wrong sort of club!! Head over to leidseplein, theres some great bars and clubs in that general area. Not sure really what else to suggest! It's a great night out in Amsterdam - have fun and enjoy the city!!!
when we were there we got dragged to a club called club san fransisco. seedy joint in the red light district..... more girls than boys unfortunately ( no prossies though). Think it's quite popular with the dutch. plays all kinds of music from pop to dance to rock. cheap drinks and no entry fee
