What are you studying towards?

Quite a bit. I covered my bases. Majored in music (musicology/theory) but lots of molecular biology on the side. Right now finishing up certification in secondary education. Then off to medical school, interested in pediatrics.

 

Bachelor of Arts (Honours). I have majors in psychology and history, but my thesis is in history.

I'm still in high school but I'm going to do a major in Teacher Education once I get to uni. Hopefully I'll work all the way up to become a professor of English.

 

I've yet to see a BA program where you need a thesis.

 

I don't know where you live, so maybe that's why. I live in Australia.


To tell you the truth I haven't found a BA program in Australia where the (optional) honours year does not require a thesis.

The Bachelor of Arts program goes for three years, and you complete undergraduate coursework subjects. If your marks are good enough you then have the option of enrolling in the honours year (which means the BA (hons) goes for 4 years). For history at my university this involves writing a 20 000 word thesis.

Even where coursework is included as part of the honours year, a thesis is still required.

After you complete honours (and if your marks are good enough), you then have the option of completing a PhD or a Masters program. How do people enrolled in Bachelor of Arts degrees progress to postgraduate level degrees where you come from if they do not complete a thesis?

You seem to be sceptical so I am posting links to some university handbooks, as you will see they all require a thesis (or a dissertation).

can do!!!! I actually just got a job in Bermuda being a first mate on a double hulled sail boat! Im stoked!!!

 

I noticed that I'm getting closer to obtaining my degree because the list of classes I need to take is getting smaller! Oh and my degree is elementary/special education with a concentration in writing. I just added my concentration thing on because my advisor told me that once i am 1/2 way through my degree I have to concentrate in something. I was going to concentrate in art, but since i have so many writing credits I only need to take 1 more writing class, which i'm taking this semester. I'm taking this ed class that teaches you how to write on the board and lecture at the same time..LOL. I have one student teaching class. It's like the first one you take. It's called "service learning." I have to make a curriculum for a particular subject and teach it, so I've been thinking about teaching an art class.

I'm working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Women's Studies. I already have an Associate's Degree in Human Resource Management. After I finish my Bachelor's, I'll be going for my Master's of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Nurse-Midwifery. I plan to be a Certified Nurse-Midwife.

 

Currently working getting a Bachelor's to teach middle school science/math.

 

I believe you, I've just never seen it. Here you just collect credits for your BA (with special honours courses/requirements if you're in the honours program).

Then you apply to Grad School (easier with honours, but it is based on GPA and prof recommendations). Some MA degrees don't even require a thesis (although all PHDs do)

 

Got a BA in German ages ago. Am currently getting certification in nursing (LPN/LVN) to lead to registered nursing to lead to a BSN (Bachellor of Science in Nursing).
