I have been discussing with nicklebag the possibility of having to much light. A couple of my colas seemed to turn white (bleach) on the tops closest to the light. As the temperature is below 85 and there is no nutrient problem I can only assume the light intensity is to much for the plants. I have got 100W of HPS per square foot. i.e. 13000 lumens per square foot. Anybody else come across such a problem as I can't find any other recorded incidents of this bleaching problem on the net.

Buff, you're a great straight man, you leave so many openings for humor! but I'm curious too, never heard of such a thing. I wonder if it's the Hps color spectrum that causes an optical illusion of sorts, ergo, HPS is in the yelow red range and the leaves reflect green blue. Since you have so much red/yellow on them they might appear to be faded.

Experiment; try shading a plant from HPS shine a flashlight or led on plant if it shows proper colors you'll know it's just the HPS!

I have harvested some of the colas and they are definitely white at there worst to a very pale yellow. It didn't seem to make any difference to overall results but it dosn't look perfect. Thanks for the input oh orange one.

I got too much light when we went to Nevada last week! The first couple days I couldn't figger out what the light in the sky was, then realized I was getting too much light!

Plants use radition contained with light to grow.Whats used is PAR flux(photo-

synthetically active radiation) and PMAR (photomorphogenically active radiation).Regardless of wattage or lumens no hps bulb comes remotely close to the good ole sun,so ask yourself;if given adequate water and nutes can a plant outdoors get to much sun? No,so your question on to much indoor light is no,damage from heat being to close yes.Keep in mind that different manufactorers of hps bulbs all contain different levels of PAR and PMAR flux but none contain enough to out do the sun which cannot supply to much if plants are given all thats neccesary to grow healthy.

Pot can't get too much light outside. I have on several occasions planted on top of a hill where the plants got light from sunup to sundown.
    They did GREAT.
There are however lots of plants that, if put in full sun, will die.
    Moss, for example.

I think when you reach 100w a sq.ft you need the grow dialed in and you gotta be using Co2. This means, optimum nute levels, air exchange, Co2 bursts, and water.

Basically, what happened is your plants got burnt because your grow is lacking.
