Neville Southall.... he has my vote because he's welsh!!! And of course a fantastic goalkeeper. Used to play for Everton, bless the poor guy, a fantastic player but never got to play in a World Cup. Surely this new Hip Forums British Dream Team could be his chance to shine. (Though hes getting on a bit now... retired in 1997)

I could be really boring and say Bobby Moore, admitedly hes a tad before my time, but he was a good player... everyone has seen the re runs from years gone by!

Terry Butcher was a good solid player, played for Celtic and of course england.

Then probably someone like Gary Neville or Stuart Pearce (please bear in mind im only 18, and am trying to include players from memory!)

All english im afriad, someone chip in with some Scots or Welshmen!

I've been watching football since the 1990 World cup so I'm gonna choose players since then.

    1. Neville Southall (Wales)
    2. Paul Parker (England)
    3. Stuart Pearce (England)
    4. Paul McGrath (Rep of Ireland)
    5. John Terry (England)
    6. Roy Keane (Rep of Ireland)
    7. David Beckham (England)
    8. Paul Gascoigne (England)
    9. Gary Lineker (England)
    10. David Platt (England)
    11. Ryan Giggs (Wales)

It pains me to leave Steven Gerrard out.

Hmmm... Ok subs are Gerrard, and I'll go for Alan Shearer the other.

Shearer over Owen cause of consistentcy, Shearer was World class throughout his career and was still scoring goals well into his 30's, where's Owen is slowing down a bit, imo.

    Good thread this. :)

I agree with you regarding owen. I have never known someone so young to lose stamina so quickly. Remember a few years back, he was the Rooney - he was our wonderboy. Im not saying hes a bad player, because he clearly isnt, hes just... slowed down. He misses shots now that he wouldnt have done in previous tournaments. Take the last match for example...

Yeah he's had an injury... not played all that much this season. However, even before his injury he was still slowing down, you never know, he might get his act together, it must be dawning on him that his place is no longer guaranteed!

Good question about De foe and Johnson.... Defoe espeicllay is a great player, I do feel bad that he flew out to Germany, only to have to fly back home when Rooney got the thumbs up. I guess theres not room for everyone...
