just thought id share some ideas for making hamburger/chicken helper recipes veggie friendly.

use tvp or veggie burger crumbles or vita-burger chunks instead of ground beef.

Use seitan or tofu instead of chicken.

your meat eating friends will love it.

i was thinking about this earlier... i bet they taste pretty good without any meat or meat substitute too.... though it's been so long since i've had a "helper" meal

I'f you dont use a meat substitute, you need to find another filler such as veggies or beans, otherwise it will lack depth and not be so filling.

    Mmmmm...

I think adding beans wound be yummy in most "helper" dishes. Especially the mexican ones. My husband HATES "helper" meals. But my son and I love them. We dont each much meat, I do make "Tuna Helper" though. But I never thought about using beans. Sounds excellent.

  6. Hi there.

I've heard of hamburger helper before, but I don't know what it is. Just out of interest, can someone tell me, please? :)

    Peace,

    Bunbury.

  11. Thanks Grobe. :) I'm just interested (in pretty much everything) - not being American, I didn't know what it was, so I thought I'd ask.

I've done it with Morningstar Farms starters (mock ground beef) and it tasted great!
