recently finished high school or is about to and doesn't have a freaking clue as to what they want to do with their life? Share, share...
im finishing in 2 days, im going in the program that opens up everything though, cuz i really dunno what i wanna do, and if id go in Business id shoot myself. prolly study plants, entheogens, mushrooms. there are a few jobs in that domain. and some make quite a living
I'd like to start on a Philosophy/US History double major with a minor in theology or music. I've also been taking medical terminology, last year... strangely, I'm going to a vocational school, as well, hopefully to pay my way through college if I ever get into anything like Duke or Washington & Lee... Only 29 percent of the people who apply ever get into Washington and Lee and median scores are 1390, but at least it keeps me afloat and doing the best I can in school. I always have to set goals higher than my own expectations. Tom Robbins attended W&L... I'm also thinking University of Virginia or William & Mary, but I don't know. Honestly, I might alot happier at Rappahannock Community College or maybe going into EMT or something. If they still offered it, I would have gone into marine studies (like shipbuilding, boat captaining, navigation, etc.) I just managed getting on the sailing team before I homeschooled last year...
well, i'm in transition i move stuff into our apt. around july 11th then i move out officially somewhere around the end of july (real official eh?) then i have about a month before school starts i want to do anthropology, at least right now i do it could change but i'm thinking maybe a double in anthro and music maybe become an ethnomusicologist maybe
Chuck, I thought you knew what you were doing. What about Sgt. Hall? Ethnomusicology is pretty interesting. I took a class on the subject. To be an ethnomusicologist, though, would require you to spend a lot of time living with whatever people you're studying... and I just don't know if I like the idea of living with a tribe, outside, in the middle of the African wilderness. It would certainly be a major life experience and all, but... meh. Studying Indian classical music would be great.
i graduated 2 years ago... but i've changed my major 3 times already. but i think i'm set now. if i get tuition money, i'll add in another thing. but yeah.
Mmmm ... I finish next year , and after i'll probably go to cégep in Social Sciences or Liberal Arts .. That's it ... I'm thinking of becoming a journalist or an history/geography teacher ...
I was like that a few years ago went into arts and sciences with a strong lean towards archaeology (parents agreed to pay for uni if I went riiiight after high school, no breaks between) Changed colleges to commerce, heehee, now I'm a human resource management major But I get electives next year! Yay, gonna take some philosophy and some anthropology classes (took intro to anth my first year and it was super fun)
Quite a few people my age join the Army simply because they don't know what they want to do. And I won't become a Sgt until my 5th year or so, which means I'll have to reinlist.... and if I stay in the Army that long, I'll attempt Officer Candidate School first.
Virginia Military Institute happens to be across the street from Washington & Lee, if you get stationed here...
Haha, that's awesome. I'll probably go to some college after I'm out.... it'd be stupid of me not to, since I'm being paid an unbelievable amount for tuition. I could get everything paid for if I went to school in Wisconsin, but why the hell would I want to do that? I've been thinking about a film school in New York City.... The 'acting for film' majour costs around $19,000 and is only a year long.... bloody hell, I think that's what I'm gonna do. (I just now looked it up after letting the idea float around in my head.... its a really reasonable goal.) http://www.nyfa.com/ I was inspired by Rent, haha.
I've kinda had my heart set on some kind of service to people... Professor, curator, pastor, EMT, etc. But I've always wanted to be a flats guide, nature guide, diving guide, or charter boat captain. http://www.coupleabucks.com/ kinda like this Rates: Full Day - $475 Half Day - $350 Night Tarpon - $350 Rates are for 2 anglers, please add $50 for a 3rd person pays pretty well...
Oh wow, that has to be one of the best jobs in the world. Yeah, I always find myself questioning "if you're not helping other people, what is the point of living...." things like that, which have pretty much turned me off from the idea of being any kind of professional musician...something that I realise would take a lot of dumb luck to be, anyway, and wouldn't be really enjoyable. I've been reading a lot about the firefighters who fight forest fires in the midwest. That'd be damn exciting... the pay sucks but they feed you and give you a place to live, so it really doesn't matter. (kind of like the Army except the pay is far from sucky) And the acting school is only a year, which makes it all the better. If it were 3 or 4 I would not give it a second thought... I don't want to be a senior in college at the age of 28.
I'd rather be a musician and enjoy it than depending on it for my own sake... some people do that and end up doing it full time, getting their own studio and label, while holding another job... etc.
