After having no success in the trading of old t-shirts, i have decided to take all the sweet t-shirts that i no longer wear, cut the screenprint out and sew them DIY style on my fabric grocery bags. It's fun. Try it.
that's a great idea! something that i would like to try sometime as well is making a quilt out of funky old tees...you know the one that you just can't bear to live without but don't want to throw away.
You could also make them into extra grocery bags by themselves...just sew the bottom shut, cut off the sleeves and cut the neck hole deeper.....
I actually did that with some old rock t-shirts of my brother's that he was throwing out... The front of the t was a square on the top of the blanket, the back of the t with the tour dates listed or the band logo became the bottom of the blanket. I made it in time for his last birthday, which he loved.
yeah that's pretty sweet. I wanted to make a blanket out of old t shirts for my boyfriend for christmas, but i just didn't think regular ol' kids tshirts weren't cool enough to make a blanket out of. It was something i wanted to do with rock shirts as well, which cost a fortune if you can't spend the time looking for them second hand. I also thought about making actual bags out of the shirts, but as i already had the bags, i didn't need anymore. Plus since they're being used for groceries, they tend to get vigorously used, something old tshirts couldn't handle.
