I was just remembering a book I had as a small child, and it occurred to me that I've never seen a thread like this before. Thought it might be useful to some of you! There were others, I'm sure, as I got older. But "You Were Born on Your Very First Birthday" was how my parents answered the "where do babies come from?" question. I have very clear memories of how well it explained how babies grown inside of mommy, and are born, and what happens in between. (I don't think theres much detail on how the babe gets there in the first place though!) My parents never lied or used silly names, and never really told me I was "too young" to know these things. They were as honest and upfront as could be, and always sure to let me and my siblings know that our bodies were natural and good and nothing to be embarrassed about. There were a few others as well, one in particular about nursing, but I can't remember the names... I'll ask my mom next time we talk! If someone already had a thread like this going, sorry, but like I said, I thought it might be a useful one!
I've always just been very open with my girls about sex and babies and menstruating and all that. Age appropriate of course, but they get the idea and it's not uncomfortable or wierd talking about it at all...phew...I couldn't imagine being scared to talk to my daughters about sex and the like.
