I'm curious to know how many other "minimalists" are on the forums here? What do you do that, in your opinion, defines you as a minimalist? At the moment (as well as for the past 6 months) I've been slowly but surely selling most of my media (books/cds/videos/dvds). I'm sure part of it is bc I need a "change" and want to make room for "new" items, but in general I like my space!!! Anyone else - commments/stories/opinions?
well it can be extended into different areas, but, obviously as the name implies, its about the bare framework to something so, in kristina's case, she wants to be a minimalist in a material sense. but you can apply minimalism to art, poetry, writing...anything really. Its kind of like a philosophy to me.
i kind of live with minamalists. i swear this house is a bachelor pad. if there wasnt a female here (me) they would have already sold off the couches & living room table. we occasionaly have a TV, they come and go. either getting stolen or sold & then they bring back another one. i watch movies at the neighbors house. we dont have air conditioning, very little furniture, like zero appliances & all that. edit: i wanted to add that i dont have a computer either. i use either the neighbors computer or my brothers laptop when he stays here.
a minimalist in what i like as far as art, music, film yes, i like things to be stark and simple, writing too. As far as my house, i would like to be more more minimal than i am, i love the feeling of getting rid of things, my lady however, does not, and loves buying things
just think of all the things that computers can replace though~paper mail, the telephone, books, the library, encyclopedias, tv, video game systems, stereo. this little machine sure packs a lot of bang for the space and energy it takes up. my computer definitely is part of my voluntary simplicity lifestye now, if you were talking about luddites, then the computer wouldnt fit in at all.
