The convenient announcement of the latest terror threats is based on intelligence that occured BEFORE the September 11th attacks! It is quite amazing that such 'specific' intelligence came out at a time when the Republican Party badly neede to steal the wind from the Democratic National Convention. With the public quite bored and apathetic about the yellow and orange alerts with no specifics only a very specific threat would make the news and by God they dug one up.

Intelligence officials state that this information has been in the Administrations hands for over two years now and that no new information has been collected. They have no evidence that any additional surveillance has been done on these sites since September 11th.

Additionally, there is evidence of a series of memos that instructed Pakistan officials and armed services to time the capture of Osama witht he Democratic National COnvention. If he had been captured the idea was to hold on to the news until it could be used to steal the limelight. A concerted effort was undertaken to do just this, but the Administration failed again.

When will they learn, cheaters never win! If you aren't registered to vote... today would be a good day to do it!

If True, the original post proves unequivically that President Bush should be re-elected.

    How so?
    Well IF:
[1] An Actual Terror Alert Benefits Bush,
and [2] An Actual Terror Alert would in the public opinion, be better handled by Bush,
and [3] An Actual Terror Alert would frighten people to have Candidate kerry rather than the current Administration in Charge of the situtation,

Then Clearly, President Bush deserves and holds more of the confidence of the American people to handle terrorists and attack.

You could make the very same argument for Hitler then since he used the very same tactics of fear mongering.

The factor that blows your argument out of the water is the many clear revelations since taking office that this admin has abused its power, the public trust and the rule of law they so regularly pontificate upon whilst condemning other nations.

Obviously you prefer known criminals from the Iran Contra Era running the show than a restoration of real integrity and accountability to the office.

I never heard President Bush compared to Hilter before, but I think you miss my point.

IF the terror alert is a scam,
And IF that hurts the Kerry Campaign,
What does that tell us about the Kerry Campaign?

    A Related but different Question:
    If Terror Alerts Are Scams,
Why did the Democratic National Convention,
Have Tight Terror Security Measures Installed?

    Another Related but Historical Question:
In the 1980 Election there was a Real Islamic Threat,
And that episode HURT, rather than HELPED, the incumbant president.
    How is this situation different?

It tells you about the state of misinformation and unquestioning paranoia of our nation, not the Kerry campaign.

It tells you further of the actual right wing corporate agenda of our mainstream media and press (the truth behind the longrunning lie of "liberal" media) for not asking any hard questions nor conducting any real investigative journalistic effort to unmask the continued fraud in this administration.

It also tells you how greatly our purposely misinformed public has been dumbed down to the point where the lessons of history are not only forgotten but rarely ever taught in the first place, leaving people no proper context with which to comprehend how significantly the sheeple have been spun since 911.

Do I think the Democrats have THE answer to this myopia? Not really, but in terms of degree, a less maniacal PNAC agenda driven alternative is a must lest the next four years reveal the no-holds barred militant push for further corporate hegemony aborad and wholesale dismantling of both our civil librties and economic future domestically.

Sorry but these answers do not seem to be related to the questions I asked.

    Am I missing something?

Those answers are what is indicative of a public willing to endorse repeatedly revealed liars and illicit war profiteers. Sorry that I refuse to play into the pre-ordained conclusions about the Kerry campaign that you wish to receive through such wording of the questions, but there you are. Exmine the broader picture at work here or content yourself with the myopia that is purposely polarising the nation.

Your apologist mislogic is amazing. You argue that if the first post stating that the terror alert is a scam put out by the Bush camp is true, that somehow the proper target of scrutiny should be the Kerry campaign... and not the fearmongers who irresponsibly play boy-who-cried-wolf with terror warnings. Bullshit.

    Not my logic at all.

My argument is that there is nothing intrinsic in a terror-alert that should help either candidate.

But if, in this particular case, terror alerts actually help President Bush, it demonstrates that the vast majority actually think President Bush would handle a terror attack better than Candidate Kerry.

And the historical example of Reagan/Carter supports that argument.
In 1980, in the face of an Islamic threat,
The Incumbant {Carter} was actually hurt, not helped.

In this case we have Kerry supporters simply assuming that in the face of islamic threats, the Incumbant {Bush} will be helped.

Terror Attacks in themselves should be party-neutral. In this case it is the democrats themselves that concede they are not. I agree with the democratic analysis.

Bad analogy though Gabino. Carter didnt perpetrate nebulous and repeated "terror" warnings on the US general public. The conflict which he faced was the Iran hostage crisis, not "terrorism" as it has come to be used as a PR tactic of the neo-cons.

That's not the point Lick. If the democrats would just shut the fuck up about Bush's terror warnings, then they would have much less of an impact on Bush's approval ratings than if they continued bitching. If nobody says anything and just let the police and the army do what they do, people won't feel inclined toward either party. BUT, if the dems go off about how Bush is doing it for personal gain and just to make us feel protected, the stupid masses will feel as if they should feel safer under Bush than Kerry. The Kerry camp is only hurting themselves.

Well if this is happening and these warning are issued for political gain. I don't think they should keep silient. I honestly believe thee's alerts should be questioned. But if you think its ok for the Reb to use terror alerts for political gain so be it Max. If you are to say there is know proof that they are doing this, don't be so naive.

What? Where in my post did I even mention the legitimacy of these claims, or the terror warning themselves? I didn't. I was talking purely in a sense of politics.

Just the recent ones? It is my opinion that all of them have been scams, the whole thing is a big scam. Like another already posted this is a form of terrorism and the people in this country are eating it up like hungry wolves. It angers me so much, sometimes I just want to spit nails.
I have just come to the conclusion that most people in this country are stupid. No way around it, I am sick of trying to change it. If stupid people want to live this way, then let them go for it. Let them live their lives in fear: fear of terror, fear of people with brown skin, fear of god, fear of people with different religions, fear of our government, and fear of other governments. This type of fear stems from ignorance and I have a low tolerance level for this type of ignorance. So everyone hurry into your bomb shelter and start taking those magic pellets. Make wonderful lives for yourselves constantly wondering "what is next", and do as little as possible to make any waves.

I'll be out dancing in the sunshine that mother nature has graciously given us another day of, or laughing at the rain, and singing with the birds, making all of the damn waves I can. I refuse to live my life in fear of terrorists, or what might or could happen, or so much in fear of an idiot president that I will compromise my values to vote for someone equally as scary.

The fact is the threat has always been there, this could have happened at any point and we still managed to get by, what is all of this crap about terror alerts and colored charts going to do now, except put already paranoid people into more of a panic. That is exactly what the government wants. Everyone so paniced that we do exactly what they say in order to stay "safe".

I think its silly to say terror warnings are a scam. Its annoying to have vague warnings. I honestly don't think they serve to protect people. Most often they end up costing municipalities money they really can not afford. But I believe these warnings are real. They must report them, so there asses are covered if there is attack. Its worse to say nothing, it would be political suicide. So we must get used to these warnings, because they will keep coming even with Kerry in the whitehouse.

Really? That is funny, we never had these warnings before Sept. 11th, even though the threat of terrorism has always been there, considering our foreign policy, so why are they so important to have now, other than instilling unnecessary fear in citizens. Every other day on the "news" we see the silly alert system telling us how safe to feel. To me that is ridiculous.

Ok let's say I give it the benefit of the doubt, and consider the idea that these "warnings" are beneficial, the government is still using them (regardless of whom the president might be, because they won't go away even if Kerry is elected) to control people with fear.

I don't know why very few people, who I would otherwise deem intelligent, simply cannot grasp this concept. It is basic psychology and a tactic used in past by dictators/rulers to evoke fear in the people. Once people are afraid they will listen to the government and do what it wants. How the hell do you think the Patriot Act actually became a "good idea" to so many Americans who used to pride themselves on being "free". We are less free than ever and we are heading in the wrong direction!

yes we never had them before 9/11. But now we see what they are capable of and deserved to be warned about any threat. Before it was bombing overseas we in north america felt safe. But thats all change, its all about them covering there asses

you are missing my point sweetie. whether or not we have the stupid alerts or not, we are not nor ever were safe. the alerts do not matter and cause panic and politicians are using it for political gain (don't doubt for a minute that kerry wouldn't use them to help him if he could, because he would be all over that). but it doesn't matter to me anyway, because i'm not scared of the alerts because i have enough sense not to believe everything i hear in the news. everyone else isn't lucky enough to have that sense. i just have to laugh at these people here at my work who get all freaked out and set up secret codes with thier kids and save water and buy silly pellets to take in case of anthrax or some other freak thing happening. people just don't understand that you can think you are prepared all you want, but when something happens, there is not one damn thing you can do to prevent it from happening. i'm sorry, as much as americans think they are god and love to try to control everything, you can't control fate my dear. if someone wants to blow us up, no alert system in the world is going to stop them.

the only people who need to be aware of the these threats are the people working to thwart the efforts. meaning the cia and the military. regular people don't need to know. all you need to know is that you are not as safe as you once assumed you were. don't be so egocentric my friend.
