*snorts* I would say no. But then again, I love metal, and hate bands like Linkin Park so I'm biased and would protect my beloved music by denying its affiliations with inferior bands. But no, in all objectivity I can muster I wouldn't describe Linkin Park as heavy metal. Welcome to the heavy metal sub-subforum, by the way, take a look around and don't hesitate to do some ear-pleasing research on some of the bands mentioned here.
KMFDM I have never heard of. If Linkin Park isn't heavy metal, of which we can be quite sure, Limp Bizkit is so even less. I'd define Limp Bizkit as rap with a band behind it instead of a turntable.
they might be "Nu-metal" by some standards they havea name for what they are I can't remember it.... metro something
They're a mix between nu-metal and something even more gay, I guess. Because they work together with very populair rappers. I absolutely HATE them. KMFDM is something weird, I have no idea what it is, but my father likes it I thought.
I don't use the word nu-metal because it suggests ties to metal in general, which there aren't. It's a term thought up to appease the angsty teens who want to be rebellious and extreme but can't take real metal.
Every year there is a metal festival in Britain called "The Download Festival" at Donington which is home to "Monsters of rock". The Download Festival has taken the place of Monsters of Rock and being that Linkin Park headlined Download on the Saturday two years back they must be metal. (Of course bowling for soup were also there). Metal is full of hypocrisy, what is, what isn't metal. Just cos you don't like something don't mean it aint metal. its loud, its got guitars and my mother doesn't like it. Are Kiss Metal? Are AC/DC metal? It depends whether you lump hard rock n roll in with metal or not. Linkin Park are labelled as nu-metal by the industry. I'd say that Linkin Park are metal. They have to be classified as something and just because something is popular doesn't mean it is pop otherwise slipknot aren't metal.
linkin park is ok i find... they started out well with hybrid theory, but the remix cd sucked... their 2 true cds (hybrid theory and meteora) werent that bad, its just they kind of screwed up stuff by bringing in j.z and making 5 remixes of every track. maybe theyve just ran out of creative ideas...
Limp Bizkit is just plain garbage.....and Linkin Park isn't far behind them. Neither of which fit into the "heavy metal" catagory.
I'm with you. I wouldn't even describe Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit as metal... Its a shame people associate these bands with good metal.
KMFDM are one of the pioneer industrial bands, and yea they are somewhat punk, as punk as my life with thrill kill kult and pantera (used to be)
um k i will never call Linkin Park pop i think they are like "new metal" yay i know the jay-z thing was a downer...yay it got me off them for a while but know i don't think its so bad. At least they were being a bit daring. At least they can retire from music knowing that they turned the music they make into a new direction. DON'T THROUGH ROCKS AT ME COUSE OF THE NEW METAL STUFF I SAID on their albums there are a few songs which you can classify as metal
the 3 dollar bill album by limp bizkit was a fuckin well good album. used to like linkin park before they got overrated. so how do you define the genre linkinpark fit into? well look at the song structures - simple verse-chorus-verse-chorus style, using electric guitars/bass guitars/drums/electronic equipment. lyrics involve both singing and rapping. guitar riffs are pretty simple and repetitive chord sequences are used. most songs are in 4/4 - 3/4 timing and jave a define start and finish point - linkin park are rap-rock all the way. but they are a manufactured band who get told what to do by the people who's contracts they signed.
