I can't seem to gain enough weight! I have 7 weeks left in my pregnancy, and I have only gained 15 pounds. Just got home from my "every 2 weeks" check up, and found out I actually lost 2 pounds this past 2 weeks.

I am supposed to be gaining 2 pounds every 2 weeks at this stage in the game. The baby is obviously growing, but I can't gain any weight. I eat a lot of fruit, veggies, grains and nuts and work really hard at getting my protein amounts.. i also drink a ton of milk. Just can't seem to get any weight to stick.

Any ideas Ladies? Anyone else have trouble with not gaining?

Hummm...I never had any problem with weight gain...actually, my doc told me I gained way too much...
I ate tons of fruit and nothing but healthy foods....with the exception of slurpees and ice cream. That's probably what did it....
I have heard of women only gaining about that much and all gave birth to healthy babies.
I don't want to say 'go eat lots of unhealthy crap,' i'd maybe suggest upsizing your portions a bit.
Sorry I couldn't help too much...

I had a difficult time gaining weight with my twins, believe it or not. I didn't gain a single pound in the first trimester, in fact, I lost.

But in the end, I gained a total of around 37 pounds (although a lot of it ended up being fluid retention from Toxemia) and my twins were just about 5 pounds each born at 36 weeks.

Some women gain more, some gain less. But if your OB or midwife isn't worried, I wouldn't really worry either. Just keep doing what you're doing, eating healthy.

With my oldest son, I gained maybe 17 pounds, but he came out at 7 pounds, 10 ounces.

Thanks for trying! The doc said that he is right on schedual size wise, maybe even a bit bigger than normal.. and he is totally healthy in terms of heart rate and all that. She is more worried about ME at this point, as she thinks the baby might be taking things from me that I need.

I eat like crazy, but I do eat smaller portions. Like, I made veggie chili last night, and instead of eatting all at once, I had 4 bowls (with brown rice) over 4 hours... so am actually eatting more, just over a longer period of time. I find there is just no room inside of me for me to eat large meals... the kid is taking over all the real estate inside of me!

As long as the baby is fine, you should be glad!!! Less weight to lose after the fact!!!

Oh... I am fine with my weight gain to date. Am fine with gaining more.. whatever it takes. The Doctor is the one who is concerned with my lack of gain.

Some people gain more easily. I personally *look* at food and gain weight! I gained 50lbs with baby1, and 40 with baby2. Luckily, both babies are little nursing piggies, so I lost the weight fairly easily!

[IMG]Here is a pic of how I currently look, belly-wise. As you can see, the belly is there, and I am not super skinny... just can't seem to gain. You can see the beginings of some stretch marks in the lower right corner though!

if babies ok, its fine... with Riley I gained 15 pounds total by the time she was born... no matter what I'd either lose or not gain but she was healthy so it didnt matter. Croix I was the same way with. I think its how your carrying your baby maybe?

Hon, some mommas just don't gain with their babies. Every pregnancy and every baby is different. And maybe this is just you guy's "normal".

Who said I was vegan? Or even Vegetarian? I was for years, but quit when became pregnant for the baby's health (although, not saying its impossiable to be a healthy pregnant veggie, just saying that for me, eatting meat was the main option).

I eat meat. I eat peanut butter on whole 7 grain bread every morning for breakfast with 2 large glasses of milk. I make a point of eatting AT LEAST 4 servings of protien a day... its hard, but I make sure I do it. I have eatten a huge jar of shelled, dry roasted, unsalted peanuts this past week, and made a bean salad that I ate for supper one night.

Today for lunch I had a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with cream of mushroom soup, a salad, a glass of apple juice, a glass of milk, and an oatmeal cookie.

Eatting fish is hard, as I live in the middle of nowhere... oceans are days and days away. I stay away from canned fish, and tuna is just a no-no with the mercury. I do drink Pomegranet (sp) juice, and eat a lot of almonds, spinach, and brocolli (all high in Omega 3s), plus am taking a pregnancy multi-vitamin.

Basically, if it doesn't have a nutritional value, I don't eat it.

holy dina, I wish I could eat like that and not gain, lol
Honestly, it sounds like you're eating everything a very well, extremily balanced diet. If baby is fine, I wouldn't stress.

That's exactly how I was when I was pregnant. Still like that for the most part, but a bit more relaxed than I was while expecting.

i wish that i had eaten more foods with the healthy fats in them when i was pregnant. ie the omega 3 rich foods like walnuts, wild salmon (fish are abundantly available here in the freezer section of the grocery), avocados, little fish that are low on the food chain~like sardines smelts and herrings, tree nuts (not peanuts, they're a legume and dont have the abundance of omega 3's that tree nuts have), free ranged meats, bone broths for calcium (not cow's milk, it's for baby cows, not for pple), free ranged eggs, etc....

Everyone is different. I think your belly is perfectly healthy looking, and cute. Like the others have said, less you need to take off after the baby comes! I gained 70 pounds with my twin pregnancy. I was all belly, some serious belly actually!!! I was almost 37 weeks when i had them, and they both weighed 5 pounds 2 oz each!! Luckily I took it ALL off...phew!!!

So with that being said! I am sure your baby is and will be just fine! Eating healthy is a hard thing to do!! And keeping away from all the temptations are even harder!!! I wouldn't worry about a thing, just enjoy whats left of your pregnancy, and your belly, because you will miss it when its gone!!! :)

Wow...I can't believe that you only have 7 weeks left!!! I personally think that you are doing fine. YOu eat healthy, the baby is growing good. When I had dd2, I only gained 15 lbs. And she weighed 6lb 10oz at 5 wks early.
