mars is the planet that governs masculinity. for men, by knowing what sign ur mars is in at birth u can find out the kind of warrior u want to be. every guy must have a sword and every guy must know how to use it if he is to be a truly satisfied male. by knowing ur mar's sign u know what kind of sword u have. my mars is in aquarius, and that's an air sign so my sword is my mind: to be a successful aquarian male i must know how to use my mind as a weapon to defend and extend myself and my group, and i must learn how to detach my mind from my feelings, instincts and body b/c aquarius is a higher chakra sign. if u have ur mars in aries then ur mars is at its most naturally potent because he is in the fire sign he rules. ur sword is passion and competitive, aggressive play. u must learn how to go with ur passions and enthusiasm and let nothing stop u. there's alot to find out. so what is ur mars sign?
let's get this ball rolling... my mars is in late aquarius in the 8th house (sex house) conjunct moon and pallas athene in early pisces.
Alright, my Mars is in Sag, in the 2nd house, and conjunct Neptune it appears. What does that entail might I ask?
hi ya soulless. did u read my blurb up above? it's about defining what ur 'sword' is and how to use it. so what can we tell about mars in sag? that's a fire sign. daniel giamario says this about mars in sag: he is "the heroic wanderer,as in the hero's quest. his intent is 2 experience the quest 4 consciousness & the discovery of the meaning of life and to boldly go where noone has gone be4. his sword quality is his inspiration and enthusiasm 4 the quest... [the invocation to the god of masculinity 4 mars in sag is this:] i quest 4 the meaning of life, i heroically seek the truth, i inspire ur spirit: i will expand ur consciousness to its widest possible horizons." so that sword is about using ur passion and energy to fulfill a quest or an adventure u go on that will serve to expand ur horizons. u better not sit at home 2 long . get urself out on the road on the gypsy trail. and because mars is placed in ur second house u can utilise this quest in the area of making money: maybe a business or some such that will avail u of the opportunities 4 travel and adventure. that's what u intended 2 do when u first came anyway, whether or not u do is another thing.
Quite astonishing how accurate some of this can be. And perhaps it would have been better not to tell me quite all of that, as now in a way I suppose I would have something with which to back up my notion when I deign to fancy myself a heroic wander on some grandiose quest of unimaginable proportion, which I might say I do at times. And so far as what you say in the second portion, of that there is no doubt. I have been growing for quite some time restless in my current location, home as it may be, and itching to just up and leave, explore far and away, beyond all that I know. And just that I have every intention of doing, as I apparently always have so you say, and that is in no great danger of changing. And so what you have said, I shall take as a very good sign, especially as it goes hand in hand with what I have currently on my agenda for the semi near future.
that all sounds promising. the thing 2 remember with all of this stuff is that the universe is going to support u in doing what u intended to do: always, always, always. the astro chart is actually a statement of intention as much as it is a description of personality. mars is the kind of masculine archetype u intend to develop. he's the new god 4 u: the mars in sag archetype i described above. ur old god is the archetype for the sign ur moon is placed in: he's the god u used to worship but now u have chosen a new one. u can continue to worship the old god if u like but u get no rewards from the universe for doing that, none whatsoever. but if u work developing the new god all sorts of doors will open 2 u, this i guarantee.
FREE from me (u only sign a faustian deal with the devil, but u pay much later, only kidding)... ur mars is a little trickier than the 2 we've dealt with so far: aquarius and sagittarius. both of these are masculine elements, air and fire, respectively. pisces however is in a feminine element: water. the way that a water sign mars expresses himself is slightly out of synch with the male archetype of consensus reality: that is, the stereotypical alpha male which patriarchy is so fond of. there's nothing wrong with alpha males but there are other ways that masculinity can be legitimately expressed and through a water sign is one of them. daniel giamario writes about mars in pisces: "He is the empath. His intent is to live a life of compassion and service to all sentient beings. His sword quality is universal compassion and unconditional transpersonal love." so ur intention is to live life through the feeling function in order to empathise and sympathise with other ppl. the aim 4 love here is not personal however, it's transpersonal. this means that u seek to merge with the collective in order to feel the divine love that is beyond personality and ego based need. u might find urself attracted to service work such as being a paramedic, a nurse, a teacher, a doctor, or even a customer service rep for a shop or business: something in which u can put other ppl's needs be4 ur own. turning off, suppressing or blotting out feelings is not good for this placement as ur feeling function is the primary method of experiencing reality that u intend to develop. if u negate it u will negate ur place in life too. the transition to pisces from whatever ur old god was can be easy or difficult but unless u make steps towards embracing the new piscean god then u will feel like ur kicking a big stick uphill. if u have already embraced him then life will indeed go along swimmingly.
how about mars in scorpio in the 2nd house? My sun, and venus are both pisces and rising sign is libra if that makes a difference.
to some extent ur like crummyrummy in that u have mars in a feminine water sign so ur aim in having mars in scorpio is 2 experience life through the feeling function. the purpose of scorpio is to control desire through total submission to them so u can achieve mastery over them. in effect it's all about mastering the energy flow and being in control of the energy and the way its run. where pisces is a giving sign scorpio is not, it's first and foremost about self: experiencing the depths of who u are in all facets. this one is a real no holds barred sorta sign and i love it. it's not a principal sign for me but i reckon i must have been scorpio alot in past lives. the book i have (shamanic astrology by daniel giamario) says of mars in scorpio: "he is the sorcerer/shaman. his intent is to exp the deepest and most powerful emotional and physical realms and then 2 master them. his mantra, shared by leo, is 'i will my will to thy will'. his sword quality is conscious sexuality." i see u r out in the midwest. off the top of my head i'd say don't let anyone of a puritannical bent frighten or dissaude u from this goal: u will do alot of sexual exploring and experimenting in ur lifetime b/c that is the gig u signed up 4. u will get to understand all about ur most forbidden desires in order to master them: not to become addicted to them i hasten to add. although that may be (may not be) a part of the journey it's not the destination. if u want a deity to worship try pan, he's the archetype of the male scorpion.
