Who is yours? Mine has to be either Wes Montgomery or Django.

you gotta love wes montgomery and charlie christian because they really got the ball rollin as far as jazz guitarists but i'd say mclaughlin is probably my favorite too. as far as favorite overall, i love derek trucks, he doesnt play a ton of jazz but he pulls off some amazing coltrane and wayne shorter lines, and his band does some great jazz covers like mr. pc, my fave things, greensleeves, impressions, bock to bock and birdland to name a few

gotta give it up for my man CHARLIE HUNTER. considering he invented his own instrument (9 string guitar) which he plays bass and lead on the same guitar.

Wes Montgomery all the way man. Ever hear the album "Bumpin on Sunset"? I used to own it. Its phat as fuck. I love montgomery's style of picking, and the way some of his later stuff was almost like jazz, with a rock/r&b beat.

BTW, I've heard of Django Reinhardt, but never heard his music. What albums of his would you recomend listening to?

Wes Montgomery's incredible, and so is Grant Green.

In terms of modern jazz guitar, Pete McCann is my favorite. He taught at a jazz camp I went to and not only is he a great player, but he's also an amazing teacher.
