I saw them one time-It was their first trip to America and they played the Fillmore in San Francisco-They were unknown then and their first album just came out -Real acidy-electronica-I remember one song on it was called Innersteller Overdrive--They were not so good then- they improved over the years-to say the least-They were around a long time-I think it was 3 bucks to get in-maybe 200 people and lots of dayglo and Owsley--Oyes!
well i didn't see a classic show like above, but i did see them in 1988 when i was 16, lots of special effects, flying pigs, burning beds flying over the crowd, a very trippy film going on behind them... They opened with Shine on you Crazy Diamond as the sun went down...I will never forget that moment
Love was one of my favorite groups in the early 60s-Arthur Lee was the lead singer and writer and they were from LA They sounded somthin like the Birds and then maybe like The Rolling Stones-They put out 3 great albums-I just found most of them on Limewire-Arthur ended up in prison for weapons charge -did 8 years-kinda ironic ha?-Love doin time for weapons-ha?--Arthur Lee is in bad shape in a Mephis hospital rifght now with some type of cancer-There was a benifit to raise money for him to pay his hospital bills last month in New York-The Robert Plant band played with alot of others-THis group was said to be the Doors main influence-they lived close by- Give a listen to Love!-Great Group-Limewire.com
Yea-Its pretty rough some of it- Forever Changes was one of the 3 albums the original group put out-The only hit was Little Red Book-The "underground" stations played them alot in 66 and 67-Some of the best songs were-7 and 7 is-Signed DC-Andmoreagain-Stephanie Knows-Orange Skies-and Mushroom Clouds-you can really hear alot of the Doors in their stuff-They ( the Doors} came along a little later-Some other good LA groups at that time wew Randy California and Spirit-they did Its Natures Way and I got a Line On You and then one of my real favorites Canned Heat-doin Goin Up The Country-I'm On The Road Again-{not Willies version) and the classic anti tweeker song for it's time Anphitamine Annie-o-yea-good stuff-Think I'll try finding some Dr. Demento shows- very funny guy-I found all the others on Limewire-
Yea!!! I dig 'Love' . I saw Arthur Lee & (another incarnation of) Love at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the South Bank,London in June 2002. I rate it as the best indoor rock concert I've ever been to. Better than: Motorhead,Saxon,Hawkwind,Crosby,Stills & Nash,Roger McGuinn. I saw the Pink Floyd in the summer of 1980 at Earls Court, London performing: 'The Wall'. On entering the auditorium;you were 'hit' by dope smoke everywhere & Vera Lynn's back catalogue being played on the tannoys. I was 15 at the time & was going to mostly 'headbanger' concerts with a schoolfriend, usually at 'The Hammersmith Odeon' . To be honest the Pink Floyd are not the band they once were. They were 'passe' even when I saw them in 1980. I had a ticket to see Led Zeppelin at Knebworth but Bonzo died & the concert was cancelled.
I saw them on the promotion-tour for the dark-side-of-the-moon-album, you can see clips of the band working at Abbey Road studios on what would become the 'Dark Side Of The Moon' release in the movie Pink Floyd at Pompeji.
