I have a love of long hair, it's just too much. So, in an attempt to cure myself, I am planning to shave it off. Anybody ever done it before? It grows back just as thick... right? Just checking.
i wanted to shave my head awhile ago.. the only thing is mine is curly and itd just love to torture me growing back, having it stick out at all odd angles, and i worked hard for my long hair! i dont see why it wouldnt grow back as thick, what kind of hair do you have?
It's a bit on the thin side. scraggly. flat on top but can poof out near the bottom. Bit past my shoulders. I want to shave it and get an afro-wig. I asked if it will grow back thinner because that is what a friend told me. She's swears she won't talk to me if I do it, but I know she will. Also my stepdad (who's against the idea as well) says it itches like hell when it grows back in. So I was just checking. But what I'm really concerned about is what song should be playing in the background. Stairway to Heaven maybe?
i took cosmetology in school, so this is what i learned: cutting your hair will not make it grow back any different, it will be just as thick or thin as it was before, because there is no chemical change happening. the reason we think it comes back thicker on our legs is cuz when hair grows it is tappered at the ends, then we cut it off at the base (also happenes to be the fattest part) and it just seems thicker. also your head will only itch if you go at the hair with a leg shaver. if you get buzzers and do it properly then you'll be fine. i've never shaved my head, but a friend did and she said it was the most liberating experience of her life. one more thing, it's not a smart idea to do it during the winter, hair really does alot to keep us warm from the cold.
Back in high school I had a friend who shaved off all her hair. As it started to grow back, there was and still is to this day, a small bald spot in front. When she went to the doctor, he told her he had seen this kind of thing happen before and the really was not a cure. he said that if it doesn't grow back within a year, it's probably permanent It's been over 3 years. ( Thank god for the comb over) FOOD FOR THOUGHT
One of my friends has really beautiful thick curly pre raphaelite type hair......every two years she shaves it all off using hair clippers.......it always grows back just the same.......it's interesting what charmain had to say about bald spots...I'd like to know the reasons behind it, I'd have thought you would only lose hair like that because of some kind of hormonal change??? or something like alopecia ??? I think the bald look can be most attractive on a woman, but if you want an afro look...how about getting a perm........
Being a practioner of the mystic arts, I would never ever shave my head.. Your hair is a storehouse of power. It's eletricly charged with energy. That's where the old wives tale came from to brush your hair 100 strokes. I have several "Hair" spells I use, to up my power wattage to send a spell (wish) out to the universe. It's most effective when you brush up power in a storm. But if you are bound to do it and you have @ least 12 inches of hair. Get a salon to shave it and dontate it to ST. Jude' s Hospital, to make wigs for childern with cancer. Peace Love and Hippie Beads <shameless>
I never knew about the power of hair, very interesting. When I really want something, wish form something(Only good things) or want to protect someone or something, I rub my hair and IT WORKS. Can you tell me more or where I can go to be inlightened?
If this 'friend' said she wouldn't talk to you if you did it, you should get rid of her right now. That's ridiculous. You should shave it. It grows back, and if you don't like the outcome, there are always wigs.
charmain> One of the ways to brush up power is to sit in your circle and brush your hair in long slow strokes, using your free hand(left) to gather the eletricity, as in smoothing your hair as your brush. Point> your gather power in your left hand and dispurse it with your right hand. After your have brushed and gathered. Hold object,(candle, inscents, book or other symbol) in your right hand to despence your will into the universe. It's best to use your OWN words as your create your will on the universe...Point> never put your "tools" on the ground in your circle).. I hope this helps Peace Love and Hippie Beads <shameless>
No!!!! Don't do it!! BraveSirRubin shaved his head and look what happened to him!...well, actually nothing happened...but still! Us long-hairs have to stick together; hair is a beautiful protective force that says alot about one's personality...if you shave it off, you're telling people you have no personality at all!! Keep the hair!
I say go for it a shaved head wont itch once you skin get used to it, I kept my head shaved over a year. used bick single blade razor twice aday. in fact i shave my head every head summer so it wont itch when i go camping. some people have a lot of trouble shaving the 1st time, and wind up wiht cuts and nicks. So Id recoment looking for a barber skilled in straight razor usage to get rid of the old locks, but any hair cutting place should be able to do good job. and you can not be slack on the shaving, if it gets to long it will be a hard shave. id usually lather my head in shower and shave it thier. once you get used to it, it only takes few minutes to do, and after a while you wont even need a mirror. you can feell any rough spot with your hands and cleen it up. and you need fresh razors, i changed my razors every 2 two days
I shaved mine in march. It's grown back just as thick as it was before, but its actually a bit curlier. It's a few inches long now
