Another work in progress. Hopefully I can get some critiques this time, or replies at all?

An Open Letter to the Reductionists

    Why am I only
    two eyes, two ears
    and a broken nose
    (can't smell anything)?

    Why am I only
    two legs walking,
    an irregularly beating heart
    but beating just the same?

    Why am I only
    a vibrant but mortal mind
and a quiet voice calling out--
    minsuderstood when heard at all?

    why should I be
    any of these things only,
if still I live and love
    willingly all the while?

    Why should I be
    reduced to flesh alone
    and deny all meanings
    as hallucinations only?

I like it. You're arguing in your head about the spiritual-physical sides of you, and which one takes precedence over your life. Or are they both same, melded into one unique creature that they call Brandon?

yeah exactly. Lol. So much for resolution, right?

I think this is going to need some expansion, though. I may scrap the whole semi-repetetive bit.

Actually, that's the part I like about it. It gives some structure to a very weighty concept.

An intersting piece so far, but perhaps it is best left that way. You said its a work in progress, but I think that the poem in its current form truly invites the reader to sort of write their own "concluding stanza" In other words, letting your audience answer the questions you pose works best in this piece.
