Do you order salad options or shakes or non-meat items in fast food places that specialize in and cater to big meat meals and meat eaters?
I do, but that's because I'm the only veggie in my family. But it can be tough to find meat free options at some places. My MIL takes us out about twice per month, and everyone else keeps worrying about "yeah, but what will YOU eat?" I've told them not to worry about me & that I'll find something to eat wherever we decide to go, but... well at least they care There's a kind of "upscale" burger joint called Red Robin here that has a gardenburger and offers boca burger options on all their other entrees. We've decided to make that one of our spots to eat out with my MIL because at least at our location they even cook their veggie burgers on a separate grill! Burger King has a veggie burger that's vegetarian but not vegan. So we've gone there a few times as well. Places like Wendy's that have wonderful salads don't work so well for me. I've gone twice since going veggie, and once I was able to get a salad without the meat just fine, and the second time the store manager nearly took my head off. Personally I don't feel compelled to stay away from a store that sells meat JUST because they sell meat. I can see why someone would choose to do so, but it brings up too many strange questions in my own mind. Like if I did that, where would I buy my groceries? love, mom
Yes, I do eat at places like that, because I figure the only way vegetarian options are going to get more popular is if people eat them! If there's no veggie options at all, then I don't eat there period, though. ~Nova
It's pretty hard to find dedicated vegetarian restaurants, so yes I do sometimes have a veggie burger from places that also serve meat.
i end up ordering a lot of side salads (because larger salads generally come with meat as well) and the oh-so-healthy option of french fries because regardless of my own health concerns or tastes....i`ve gotta eat something. my goal is usually to merely stave off hunger long enough to get home and eat some real food though.
when I was on the road there were two vegetarians, which included me. The driver was a meat eater, so we stopped at burger joints everytime. Most of the burger joints didn't even sell salads! I was stuck eatting fries for 4 days straight!
I didn't know that McDonald's fries has beef extract in them, though I'm not sure if they still do since they have a law suit against them, but I've gotten them since I have gone veg and now I'm a be skeptical to buy non-meat products from other places. I try not to, but I do. Like Burger King's veggie burgers. Those are good. And I can't ever get them to take the meat off of the salads at the fast food places. Dicks.
The only burger joint I go to is In 'N Out, and I just order their grilled cheese (which is a burger just without the meat). It's so effing good too.
Fast food is gross! Just don't eat there at all? Even if places have veggie patties, its probably made on the same area where they cook the meat and probably made poorly.
Not always. Burger King microwaves their veggie burgers, and Red Robin uses a special grill for all non-meat items. Fast food is not always healthy, but sometimes it's necessary when life gets hectic. love, mom
The BK veggie burger is good and very filling! It's not my first choice, but it will do in a pinch. I try to avoid fast food.
it's because their salads are premade and the meat has been mixed in with everything twice over. Sometimes it's not possible to make new ones when the supplies aren't there. They're not dicks, they're kids working for $6/hr at a smelly fast food joint taking shit from ignorant self absorbed assholes all day long. Plain and simple, i just don't eat fast food EVER. I used to wolf BK burgers, but i'd rather spend $7 on a box of clean veggie burgers from a store than a greased up heart attack meal waiting to happen. I'm far from being a cocky vegetarian but if a restaurant does not cater to a vegetarian diet i simply refuse to eat there. I'm not going to spend over $8 on a salad i could have easily made at home.
I love Ruby Tuesday's veggie burgers. they are sooooo good and taste so real it kinda freaks me out (better than real since I never enjoyed burgers when I ate meat)!! I start to wonder if maybe a meat burger with chopped up veggies in it could be technically considered a veggie burger on the menu and I get soo afraid to ask the waitress because I already have the delicious and oh so horrible if i'm wrong veggie burger goodness in my mouth, I don't taste death but I know never out of countless brands of veggie meat i have tried have i EVER ate anything this good. Lol I haven't eatan there since because I wonder about it still... but if it truely is veggie, thats the damn best burger i've ever had in my LIFE! p.s. i have my fingers crossed right now i'm not gonna find out it's to good to be true eep!
