hey i recently talked to a woman at femaleseeds.com about her outdoor strains. she said that "Our summer temp starts in May and runs till September. The longest day (about 18 hrs) in june. So, our days are long which is important to know, which is the reason why our outdoor strains are autoflowering - they can flower in long periods of light". I dont completely understand this, so i asked her and she said that "Normally plants need around 12 hours of darkness/daylight to set them off into flowering, but as holland is in such a climate where we get around 18 hours daylight during summertime it would be difficult to get them to flower outdoor. Hence the selection of plants which do flower with little darkness at night. This is what's called autoflowering." Im jus wandering if my plants will flower at the same time, or earlier , later or NEVER lol because of the frost. Please shed any light that u can, thanks
did you buy the same strain as her? did you plant them at the same time as her? if you did, and they're striclty autoflowering (i.e. extended periods of dark wont force them into flower) then your bud will be finished at the same approx time as hers when did you plant them?
The farther North you go, the longer the summer days. Alaska, land of the midnight sun. Holland is more Northerly than all of the 48 states (never knew that till i looked at a map just now). Farmers don't grow the same strain of corn in Florida that grows well in Maine because of the climate differences, among other reasons. An outdoor pot seed for the North probably isn't going to do quite as well as one specificaly for your area. Meanwhile those turds at U.C. Davis, Penn State, etc. spend their time working on food seeds instead of the important stuff like dope. (mostly) Wherever you live it ain't Central America if you're worried about frost. I've never grown anything I knew to be an autoflower; would be great to hear from people who did. My guess would be that as the days get shorter the autoflower feature of your crop is going to become irrelevant b/c the shorter days are going to push it into its natural tendency to bud out. Write back with how the crop works out.
