Syd Barrett, founder of Pink Floyd, dies

Creative genius of the band Pink Floyd died at age 60. No cause of death but was said that he was troubled and lived his last years as a recluse.

 

oh that syd. i thought they were talking about the syd who wrote sim city or that damd sydney bliss over in nevada with all his dollar an acre swamp land and desert scams.

the floyd was great BEFORE they did the wall. i loved dark side of the moon. but wall was a lot of faschist crap and i naver could feel good or right about anything they came out with after that.

I hate the wall song period. I thought I was the only one that thought they blew it with that song lol. We don't need no self-control. (They sounded like mad kids trying to sound like pirates lol.) Pink Floyd's sound was close to the Moody Blues sound and when they started to lean towards Fleetwood Mac then I was too disgusted to listen to them anymore

 

NOOOOOO!!!! Thats not good! He had a great voice! GOOD BYE SYD!!!!

 

That is sad news. Coincidently, I just listened to Dark Globe last night.

 

Also, other people died. R.I.P. everyone who died.

 

I love Pink Floyd... The Wall is awesome ... maybe you have to know addiction to feel it.

 

Syd was out of it for a long time...just another reason to NOT do LSD...

You know Dave Gillmore did an interview and said that one day the group just didn't pick Syd up to go to the studio...and that was it...that's how they kicked him out. Pretty low, but Syd was pretty out of his mind anyway.

 

I just got home from work and heard. I have a lot of Pink Floyd. If you haven't seen Live from Pompeii you should. It's a young Pink Floyd. It goes back and forth between studio "Dark Side of the Moon" and a concert from the next album, for no one but these two guys in lawn chairs on Pompeii. It's my favorite.

 

is this for real??????? I worked all day, and unfortunately you never hear this stuff on the news.......

well, he has been a recluse for years......

and its sad to see him finally kick the bucket......

but really this has ruined my day.

he is the first pink floyd member to go....

 

that's really sad.. he was a visionary, even though he never could fully beat his own demons..he surely will be missed...

 

They didn't know at the time what caused his death but when they find out I'll let you know.

It lists that he was a diabetic so that may have been a contributing factor.

 

just thinking about all the writings he's created over time, and how passionate a soul he was...it's really tough to see him go.
