my first question is, does anyone have some tricks to get pregnant?..like ive said my husband and i are trying to get pregnant and i was just curious if theres anything to try?....also ive been told that BY LAW you have to have an ultrasound when your pregnant, and BY LAW you have to let them do all sorts of blood tests on your baby....anyone have any info on that?..thanks
i have an answer for the first question~ mark and i had sex day 14,15, 16 after the first day of my period. it took 2 months...but i also tend to be quite fertile. good luck.
Get the book "Taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler (sp??). It is a book about NFP. It explains very thoroughly how to chart your cycle, which can help you get pregnant and also avoid pregnancy later. Its the only method of birth control I've ever used, and its also how I got pregnant.
yeah, what smiling_mama said. TCOYF and fertility awareness is how both of my girls happened. Not everyone ovulates on the 14th day of their cycle (but many women do), and you need to have sex *before* ovulation for an egg to become fertilized. Even if an egg does get fertilized, you only have about a 20% chance it will implant and grow into a baby each cycle. NO, they cannot force you to have any medical interventions or tests without your consent. But often, if you haven't educated yourself, and know exactly why you do not want those things and can explain your decision rationally, they will try to force you to comply.
well i am confused. so...why would u have to be able to expalin yourself...what ever happened to rights, and being able to decide ...why would u have to explain??... and am i right on guessing a supply of ovulation tests might be a good idea?..lol
No. You don't need to buy expensive ovulation tests. TCOYF shows you how to know your body better without expensive tests! As far as knowing your rights and being able to explain yourself, hospitals and doctors are now of the belief that they know better than the general public what is better for the GP. There are cases of doctors going TO THE COURTS to force a woman into a c-section that is really not needed. Also, I just saw something on 20/20 where they are now performing pharmaceutical tests on hospital patients without their knowledge. Knowing your rights and the reasons for your decisions helps to keep you from being harmed by the establishment.
Are you against the tests they will do to YOU, or the ones they will want to do to the baby? No one tried to get me to do any tests on my baby (who is still inside me), although I had several rounds of blood work myself testing for such things are blood compatability, iron levels and gestational diabetes. And, at least here, I don't think ultrasounds are required by law, as I know of a couple women who didn't get them done.
I found TCOYF very helpful as well. All you need is a thermometer and some charts that you can print from online for the cost of the ink. I was told that ultrasounds are still considered optional unless there is a medical need for them. (this was 6 years ago, but I doubt things have changed TOO much since then) I guess it would depend on the circumstances, but most mamas are not likely to run into a situation where they would be ordered to have one. Routine bloodwork/testing can be denied as well. My kiddies did not receive the silver nitrate drops in their eyes, because I knew them to be uneccessary and harmful. And my daughter is still only vaccinated against... oh darn, I forget. I think it's just one or two things rather than the whole battery of immunizations most babies are put through. Like mamaboogie said, arm yourself with knowledge and don't let them bully you. They can TRY to make you do whatever they want. But they can only MAKE you do so much. Check out your state online so you know for sure. love, mom
ultrasounds and bloodwork on your baby is not a law when you do get pregnant the first thing you might want to do if you are against those things is find a local midwife and have her examine you she will also let you know what the laws are in your state and such its probably a better idea to find a lay midwife instead of a nurse midwife you also might want to check out Mothering.com which has a bunch of helpful articles on natural childbirthing and rearing if you have any questions feel free to message me at any time and i promise to help in any way i can peace an love
The more educated you are about pregnancy and the more you are able to talk well to your health care providers, the less problems you will have, if and when you want to refuse something. Someone who says, "I'm not gettin an u/s, and you can't make me!" is going to meet with more resistance than someone who says, "I have some studies here, which point to x.y or z problems I have with the procedure. Do you have any overriding concerns about my health that would require an ultrasound? Or can we wait on it and not do one, unless there are medical reasons later?" I refused prenatal tests on my fetuses, my doc had no problem with that. I also refused a lot of vaccinations. I had plenty of documentation, as well as my first child having severe, documented side effects to vaccines. My requests were honored. The best way to talk to HCPs is an intelliegent, respectful, literate manner. You'll do better this way. There are SOME situations where you may need to have an ultrasound, for the baby's health. Unexplained bleeding, in the second or third trimester could indicate a problem with the placenta. A placenta previa prevents live vaginal birth, (if the placenta doesn't move UP before labor starts, a C Section has to be done to save your and the baby's life) and knowing if this or similar situations are happening could save you a lot of heartbreak. This is only one example of why some tests are neccesary, at some time. There are also other tests that you may want to investgate in a test by test manner. Some tests reallly ARE for your benefit, and the benefit of your baby. Knowing which ones are really important and which are not really applicable to your situation is a good thing to know.
A friend told me her ways of getting pregnant are: Dont think about it, dont get stressed over it - just enjoy having a shag lol After he cums in you - you cum - the motion is ment to work a bit better for the guys to have a swim, Tilt your pelvis so nothing swims out And no one can MAKE you have tests
I agree...trying is SO MUCH FUN!!! When I was pregnant I used "The Pregnancy Book" by Dr. Sears as one of my resources. The book talked not only talked about what to expect with each doctor visit, but also talked about the many tests and procedures that they do on preggies nowadays...explained how the test is performed and the pros and cons of having them, even some available alternatives. It was very empowering, and I feel that's a great part of what it was intended to do. I love the Dr. Sears books! They present a very holisitic philosophy and do not shun alternative medicine practices like some other books seem to. No one can make you have tests on yourself or your baby, but remember that it is part of the HCPs role (I'm an RN, myself) to educate you and help you make an informed decision. I often have to play devil's advocate, but I have never seen any of my peers FORCE a patient to do something, nor have I ever. Good luck!
not only was I forced to undergo certain procedures and tests that I did not want, things were done to me without my knowledge or my consent when I was pregnant with my first child. And they also used high-pressure manipulative tactics to get me to comply with those things they couldn't hide from me. They used my worst fears against me, told me my baby was going to die if I didn't do what they thought I should. Reading the records from my hospital stay, and subsequent cesarean surgery, was a very scary eye-opener for me. Yes, I trust my OB and don't think he would have done those things, but he wasn't on call the weekend my water broke.
okay well i am a firm believer that birth is all natural and shouldnt be done in a hospital and treated like a disease..i dont see the need for all this crap unless something is wrong yahno?..
Great!! There are some wonderful midwives in Oregon, you shouldn't have a problem finding the right one for you. Always remember that they work for you, and you can fire them at any time for any reason (or no reason at all).
