against the Left Behind video game. FedUp first brought this to all our attention and I am sure that many people along with myself though that this was quite silly, but I saw a report about it on CNN today and was deeply saddened by what I saw. Basically, you control somethign that is like God's SWAT team around a city shooting from what I could tell people to tanks (which I can only assume are under "Satan's power"). I don't understand how these people who supposedly follow a loving God can believe that the ruthless killing of God's children is ever justified? As far as I know, no attempt in the game is made to try and peacefully convert people or turn them from "the Devil" but instead you tactically slaughter them. Ugh, I can't believe that so much money is put towards such an astrocity (because the game looked quite slick) instead towards social betterment or outreach or education programs... Rant over.
spook13, a little hint I saw on CNN. Clicking the pray button raises your strength. Ugh, I didn't know it was being given directly to children (and by children I mean like under 16ish). It strikes me as odd that if this was a game where you played as Nazi's runinng around killing a bunch of innocents these same people would be fighting tooth and nail against it. Heck, even if it was just a regular war game directed at children the'd probobly be against it.

Fedup, thanx for the link. In the interest of fairness, this is from the game website: LEFT BEHIND: ETERNAL FORCES A statement from Left Behind Games Inc. Troy A. Lyndon, Chief Executive Officer Recently, much controversy has ensued due to published articles in the media which discuss the violence in our upcoming game, Left Behind: Eternal Forces. However, references to “praise the lord and pass the ammunition” or “kill in the name of God” or others were made by journalists spreading misinformation, which is absolutely not true. And for this reason, I have published this statement. There is no blood or gore in Left Behind: Eternal Forces. The game is designed to be a classic battle between good and evil, but it does not gratuitously depict violence or death. Others are concerned about the pre-trib religious doctrine believed by the Left Behind authors. Left Behind is not the Bible, it is a fictional story and accordingly, situations resulting from the stories' post-apocalyptic time-frame are used to encourage gamers to think about matters of eternal significance, a topic largely ignored by modern games. Because our game is a ‘strategy' game, never does a player click a key or press a button to actuate a first-person violent act. Instead, control is managed by the player in much the same way as an animated chess game would be when pieces fight for position, except that in ‘real-time' strategy games, many pieces fight for position at the same time. In Left Behind: Eternal Forces , the players' objective is to find ‘tribulation clues', which include Bible mysteries, codes and fascinating and eternally relevant information. In the initial missions, there is little emphasis on physical warfare and gamers are introduced to powers of influence which result in a battle for the hearts and minds of people. As missions progress, there are no ‘objectives' to cause war physically. However, physical warfare results when the player is required to defend against the physical forces of evil; led by the Global Community Peacekeepers. We're surprised by the comments of many critics as they have neither seen nor previewed the game, which is still under development. Several months ago, there was a news story with erroneous information about the game. Unfortunately, some readers accepted the misinformation as being factual, and then the rumor mill and the blogs were off and running. If you hear someone making negative statements about this game, we encourage you to ask if they have personally reviewed the game. If they are merely passing on hearsay, it is false and misleading information. At Left Behind Games, we are dedicated to making great games . Left Behind: Eternal Forces is coming to the PC and will be released on October 17, 2006. We believe it will be a great day!
coulda been worse... coulda been a game recreating the acts of genocide that were ordered by God (old testament) it don't surprised me at all tho'..... organised religion has often manipulated the popular media for it's own ends .... and kids do love those computer games
this game looks like another one of those subpar doom-inspired shootarounds. nothing to really get excited about. its just a game there are far worse games out there.
they'll give anything to children as long as it doesn't have sex, immagination or creativity in it. kind of ass backwards isn't that. and guess who'se to blame for the cultural assumption that kinds are more injured by sex then violence? three guessess and the first two don't count. hint, it's a personality cult religeon that starts with the letter 'c'. (oh yah, and if you look you might find the name of it somewhere on this page) =^^= .../\...
That's a travesty. BTW A lot of Christians are against the Iraqi war. I'd also go as far as to say a lot of people involved in Iraq are about as Christian as Anton Lavey. Don't believe everything you read or see on CBN. Also, let me be clear on something. I mean the big people pulling the strings. Not the poor guys who wanted G.I. bills and wound up in the middle of someone elses get rich quick shemes.
Sex and violence = bad. Just violence = good. Yay God! Hiprocracy doesn't apply to you! Little churchy kids who's parents have only let them play Veggie Tales Adventures to this point are gonna be their only market for this game anyways.
Don't worry, yiou will soon have your chance in reality... you will see the day. It seems that when the anti christ comes you won't be to hard to fool, since what will control him, seems to have already taken control of you.
