This board is changed. It's not how I remember it. I get here and all I hear is bitching. And I've heard so much trash talking on shut up and eat it. We were there from the top feeding spring council, seed camp, all the way through the gathering. We were there at the front line, first kitchen to see the cops. The cops came to us civally on more than one occasion and asked for out help to peace keep. Are we really that horrible? And now we abuse our dogs? More than once, people brought dogs to our kitchen and just tied them and left them there. When people got arrested, they left their dogs with us. We did the best we could. What is this? I know that all the times I cooked and served and ran water and wood no one said a word to me about how schwag we are. Now that you don't know who is who, and there's no face to face, it's just shit talking? I feel like I have to just keep defending my "gutterpunk" friends, and my kitchen. Loving you family. When you are hungry, we will feed you. I don't feel welcome at this board anymore.
Hey Princess Sara, don't leave us! Most Rainbow boards seem to get a little Agro after the Gathering, it's just folks letting off steam & some of them don't always realize that folks is folks & to let a persons actions in real time deterimine their opinions, instead of generalizing on what they think they saw or what they heard from others. Lovin' You Sara & we hope we'll still see you 'round here.
we're all judgers though.... i found myself on the receiving end of quite a bit of judgement this year, and was given a hard time from a number of different people for my more mainstream appearance. numerous times this year i was accused of being a cop, teased for my babylon looking clothes, and my short hair cut and cleanliness. its just the name of the game, and no matter what, people are gonna pigeon hole you as per your appearance, even the supposedly accepting rainbow family, so don't let it ruin your day, i sure didn't. and really, its not like its everyone, i met some real nice people, hippy looking, guttered out, and normal while i was there too, and they were all more than willing to accept a person despite his/her appearance.
AND GOD DAMN THE GAS PRICES all the way there, ha ha ha ha..... agro is just an emotion us people have.... gota vent a little to keep sane I guess... ha ha Mike...
I understand. My biggest issue was that of my kitchen. We work hard to feed the family, and we don't diserve the judgments we get. People bitch about us, but if you've ever worked in a kitchen for an extended period of time, or at all (which I'm sure most of you have), then you know that it's no joke. It's hard work. Maybe don't look at all the things about us you don't like. Maybe think about what we do for the family. We're not a kitchen who goes to one or two gatherings a year, then goes home to rest up. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you will always find our bus on the way to feed family. Year round we are there cooking as much as we have food to cook. We show up with what we left the last gathering with and nothing more, and we make it work. It's stressful, but it's worth it. Think about things like that before you judge us. Yes, we are loud. yes, we are obnoxious. Yes, most of us are young. But we do this because we love to feed. So SHUT UP AND EAT IT.

I thought your shit was phat this year, and I've been impressed with how the kitchen has grown/matured over the years. I know what it's like to be classified ghetto, as Bob's kitchen was too this year kinda. You seen the Matrix where he gets shot with a thousand bullets and absorbs them all and I can see where he thinks "I'm gonna shoot all these bullets you shot at me right back at you fuckers" but then instead (I freaking love the Matrix) he lets all the bullets fall and leaps into the bodies of the coppers and annhililates them!!! woohoo that's what I try to do.

Unfortunetly, when it comes right down to it, MOST hippies are no different than the people within any other "group". I'm not downing us hippies... It's just the way that most people are. Plenty of righteousness, ignorance, and judgement to go around. And this board as far as I've seen has always had plenty of it too. MAYBE it wasn't noticed because it wasn't so directed at "you". I feel for you sister. I've never eaten a meal at ANY kitchen that I could complain about. And I've always fealt grateful towards the people who put their time and energy into feeding others. - Damian
