I had to remove my belly ring because it grew so infected and so nasty. I'm wanting to get it redone but I"m not sure if the scar tissue will be in the way. I'm going to wait untill fall so I can keep it cleaner. (Pool, sweat etc) Anyone had a repiercing in the same place? Pain worse than the first time? And, is it even possible?
Also, if I get it repierced and it get's infected again (it was swollen and pussy for 3 months and the last straw was when it obtained a blood pocket and wouldn't quit bleeding!) should I leave it in and let it heal itself or take it out and be done with it? I'm not crazy about spending another $60 to get it redone but I really liked it and want it back.

I took mine out because the first time I had it done....like the morning after, it was itching and I flicked it real hard and it bled....which freaked me out. The next year I had it pierced in the same spot....and it worked out just fine. It didn't hurt any worse or any less....just the same pinch. So, it's possible....it just depends on how scarred your belly button is, I suppose.
Um....if it's getting badly infected, you're not taking good enough care of it. I soaked mine in warm salt water (I used table salt) 3 times a day, 10 minutes each....then coated the ring with bacitracin and wiggled it around in the piercing a bit, so it gets inside.
I guess you should decide if you're going to take care of it this time if you're dropping $60.00. It takes time to heal....and patience enough to actually keep it clean. That's a lot of money on something that you may just let go again.

I had my naval done twice too. The first time I simply forgot to put in my other bar ring and when I did it had allready half closed up. To have that one done didnt hurt much at all, just a pop and another pop and it was over, only stung as much as a bee sting really. The second time was just as easy. But I run out of cleaning stuff for it and had to use this stuff my mother found on the first-aid tin. That shit stung badly, but my mother allways said that the stinging was a good thing so I kelp using it for a few weeks. One night I was moving it around and I saw this puss infected burn forming on the top of and inside my belly button. So I threw out the intisceptic stuff I found in the first-aid tin and just began using salt and water. It actually worked better than the other piercing care junk I had used in the past, allthough the stuff I was using that run out was really good (contact lense cleaner) So I sudjest either salt water or contact lense cleaner to be the best for piercings.

Well that's nifty. I just got my ears repierced and I wonder if I can use that solution on my belly button when I get it done?

    cleaning...

most important. get sea salt. NOT table salt. you want uniodinised sea salt. take a 1/4 teaspoon and dissolve it into a cup of cooled, boiled water. so you know, its luke warm and not uncomfortable. soak a paper towel or similar in the water and compress against your piercing for 10-15minutes, twice a day. another option would be to make the solution in a cup and then push it against your stomach, forming a seal around your navel and lie on your back, soaking the piercing nicely.

#2, for your navel. antibacterial soap. i dont know what brand to recommend but if palmolive exists in america then get some. palmolive softwash antibacterial soap. protex and dettol are other good brands, but again, im not sure what you have access to. the active ingrediant to look out for is triclosan. twice a day in the shower (to be easiest) you want to wash your hands with the soap, then lather up a small amount and thoroughly wash your piercing with it. get it through as much of the piercing as possible and dont be afraid to gently move your jewellery to aid in this. leave the soap in for no more than 2-3minutes and then wash it out very thoroughly. do your best not to leave any residue in your piercing..

for an ear, if your piercer is like flesh wound here, youll have a antiseptic facial cleaner.. which wont hurt your navel if you decide to use it on both. better than nothing anyway. the main thing you want to avoid is alcoholic products. especially ones with large quantities.. alcohol based products are quite good at keeping your piercing clean, as it kills bacteria quite well. but it also kills off growing skin cells and the likes quite well. so avoid them if possible as they are quite good at prolonging healing times and making it easy for the piercing to never fully heal.

but for your navel. sea salt compresses. cannot stress that enough. and antibacterial soap. both twice a day.
