The latest episode of The ACLU Freedom Files, "Drug Wars," takes you to Hearne, Texas, where 27 young African Americans were arrested in a drug bust, based on the word of one unreliable informant. You will also see three sisters describe the devastating impact of mandatory minimum sentences on their family. America's "war on drugs" has done nothing to reduce drug abuse, despite massive spending on law enforcement. Instead, it has diverted resources from fighting other crimes, fostered racial profiling and put millions behind bars. Meanwhile, people with serious illnesses are cruelly prevented from accessing medications that could help them. On Freedom Files this week you'll also meet Valerie Corral, who treated her debilitating seizures using marijuana and helped author the first state law allowing the use of medical marijuana. Through these true stories Freedom Files shows how the "war on drugs" has become a war on the American people. The show airs on Link TV on July 13 and Court TV on July 15. Are you a PROUD dupe as well? Awfully funny I never hear the ACLU defending the rights of gun and property owners.
The ACLU Freedom Files are so wonderful. Watch their other videos to, they all make you think. That one almost made my cry, I really feel for those people. Our government is so messed up.
