Devendra Banhart!

i only discovered him some 2 months ago and i dont know what to say, but its funny no one i talk to in my school has any idea who he is so its kinda like theyre missing out major

 

i used to be so obsessed with this man.... but his music didn't have much staying power for me, sadly.

 

I love Devendra Banhart! Yesterday I walked into the co-op and heard someone playing his music and it made my day.

My current musical fantasy would sound like the love child of Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom.

 

God, I hate this guy so much. I played his music for some friends and they started laughing. I have his Nino Rojo cd and I've heard Cripple Crow, and I think the guy sucks. His guitar playing is mediocre, and that way he shakes and vibrates his voice sounds so ugly.

Instead of putting 20 shitty songs onto one cd he should focus on making a couple of good songs.

I'm sorry, but how the hell is Yellow Little Spider a great song? He shakes his voice singing those three words for a mintute in a half while struming the same two chords.

I tried to like Devandra Banhart but I just couldn't because I don't really believe it's quality music just too much quanity to cover lack of skill.

However, if you want something good, listen to his protege, "Vetiver"

i think he's great. Cripple Crow is an amazing album, I wouldn't call one of the songs 'shitty'. I love love love the song Inaniel it's so amazingly beautiful. And White Reggae Troll was such a hot surprise.

 

Uhhh, that wasn't my point. My point was that he has a cult following calling him amazing.

 

i am absolutely in love with devendra banhart. i randomly came across his stuff in a record store my friend works at and there's nothing i dont love about the guy, im hoping to be able to see him play live next time he comes around florida.

Evidently I'm on Devendra's Cripple Crow LP (the newer one released 7/11/06), along with several other hundreds of folks.

I submitted my pic for that competition, and my friend told me I'm on the inside cover. I just ordered it from Ebay, so I'll let you know. I'm very psyched

Poor Devendra: I was reading the news on his website. It looks like someone slipped a roofie into his drink at Bonnaroo. What the hell is that all about? Anyone hear about this?
