dude those were the bomb usually i had trouble getting "normal" friends so i got me some pet rocks back in the good ole days and ive never been the same. 35 years and 4 wives later those rocks have all stuck with me heres a pic of my collection
those are the sweetest looking pet rocks i've seen. all slick and shiney with their cute little eyes. i remember pet rocks the begining. i may have given birth to one or two myself. i remember the ones where people made little coats and jackets for them to keep them warm and lots of other things like that. yours are more natural though. beautiful in their near naturalness. =^^= .../\...
I remember my mom just got a rock out of the backyard and called it a pet rock because I wanted a dog, but couldn't afford it. We're so ghetto.
pet rocks were kind of a folk art. i don't remember whether it was the 70s or the 80s when that was going on. but i do remember people painting and selling them at street fairs and farmer's markets though. just any old rock. you'd pick it up and clean it off real good and paint eyes and stuff on it, and people would actualy buy the silly things. people got real creative with them. we could still have fun with that. it's one of those accessable things that almost no matter how poor you are you can do something about or with and no matter how rich you are you can still enjoy. something people of all economic situations can enjoy and share with each other. i'll bet that's why were not seeing them now. ok sure people get tired of everything and want to go on to something else. a lot of people thought the idea was really silly of course, even at that time, but the more i think about it the more i think it would be really cool for now. =^^= .../\...
