Hello! I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on cleaning my pipe. Here's a link to a picture of it: My pipe Thanks in advance.
hot damn thats a nice pipe. soak it in a pool of salt and rubbing alcohol for awhile which should loosen up/dissolve the resin. or just boil it, then rub down the outside with alcohol (itll be sticky otherwise).
Thank you If I do it that way, will I be able to smoke the resin afterwards? I forgot to mention that I was hoping for a way in which I could. Thanks again!
Don't boil it. Boiling can take some of the fuming out of the pipe, in my experience. The best way to clean a bowl is to soak in a cup or baggie full of isopropyl alcohol for a while, then run hot tap water through it. Repeat as needed.
I found that most cleaning supplies you can find at a Menards or Home Depot do the trick. Methyl Ethyl Ketone works alright, same with Denatured Alcohol. Just light the pipe on fire after you soak it and scrape it to remove any fumes and excess liquid. Dont want it to light your face on fire!
All of this is good advice. 1. Don't boil it unless you know what you're doing. 2. Salt and rubbing alcohol. Pour it in there and shake it around a bit. Then leave it sitting in some overnight. Rinse in the morning and you should be good to go.
OK so I won't be going the route TheRosesAreFree suggested. lol. That scares me just a tad bit. I think it's safe to say, I don't know what I'm doing, so I won't boil it then. I'll just do the salt and rubbing alcohol thing. Thanks for all the replies!
if you don't add salt to the alcohol, you can smoke the resin. after the alcohol turns black and your pipe is clean, just stick the liquid in a glass/Pyrex bowl. you must wait for all of the alcohol to evaporate which, depending on how much alcohol you used may take a few days. once all the liquid is song there will be a black flaky substance(your resin) covering the bottom of the glass bowl. scrape it out with a razor blade, spoon, or knife and smoke it.
I use the salt/alcohol technique also.....i use the salt without the iodine.......not sure if it matters but i can get mine back to pretty much brand new looking condition in like 5 min.....
