We recently went to Amsterdam for the first time, just 2 days as we traveled around Europe. Went to 6 -7 Coffeeshops and mostly I saw people smoking joints and a few small pipes. I realized one thing very quickly, I don't have a clue when it comes to rolling a joint correctly. I didn't see anyone smoking out of a Bong or Waterpipe. I heard some Coffeeshops might let you use one of theirs or you can bring your own ? SO what is the proper etiquette when bringing your own smoking equiptment as far as getting water for the pipe and disposing of the water before you leave ? I purchased a small ceramic pipe and used it when I was there, and did buy a few pre-rolled joints, but I could taste the tobacco in them I now know that many do sell Pure joints, as I am not a fan of tobacco. Anyone know of any sites that can show step by step how to roll a better joint ? I saw one guy In De Damkring using a pencil to roll a joint, what is that used for, shaping the paper ? De Damkring its a cool place, but it did get swamped about 10:30 when we arrived at 10:10 there was a few tables empty and nobody at the dealer. About 20-30 minutes later I would say 30-40 people came in almost all at once, we wondered why so many at once, were they locals, cruise ship passengers, it looked like they had been there before and some of them knew each other ?

I wish I would had the map when we went 2 weeks ago. I did have a decent map that is widely available and it helped but it was not as complete as NEMISIS map. Having been to Amsterdam recently and for the first time we can't wait to go back. Wife doesn't smoke but is cool with my smoking. We are looking at returning soon, haven't decided on date, as she may be out of vacation time for this year, I would love to go at cup time. Is it really that much better at cup time ?
I can honestly say that Nemisis's map was extremely helpful to me and friends when I went there in March. As for the usage of bongs, we used a bong practically everytime, especially at The Grey Area and Barney's, which IMO had some of the best weed, plus they had RooR bongs. How can you go wrong?
Ok back to the question at hand, if I bring a waterpipe/bong in to the coffeeshop, what is the procedure for getting water and disposing of it before we leave ?
At the sink in the toilet room for both getting & disposing of the water. If sink is to small, bring an empty glass or bottle in room with for fill up. Most coffeeshops will give you ice if your nice.
Alot of the coffeeshops will have bongs behind the bar. Sometimes you'll have to pay a small deposit which you'll get back when you return the bong. Never taken my own bong into a coffeeshop but i doubt they'd mind. Just ask to make sure.
Pink Floyd have some nice bongs which are kept impressively clean I thought - compared to the Coin and Grey Area where I thought they could have been cleaner. Still, like someone said, with the quality of weed from the Grey Area, I find it is almost compulsory to smoke it through a bong.
Just buy your own bong and bring it along, not a single coffeeshop will mind that, if you are allowed to role your own joint, then you are allowed to smoke a bong aswell, simple as that, as long as YOU are comfortable...
Yea that sounds like a plan, my main question was what is the best way to get water and or ice ? Does it bother the budtender if you ask nicely for this stuff, a smile & please and thank you usually go a long way. Ice seems scarce sometimes in the Dam, in many places. I can see where having a small cup or water bottle to get water from the bathroom sink might come in handy. I could see me know trying to squeeze a 18"+ BONG under the spout at a small sink, when you are stoned you might try almost anything.
haha well you could probably ask the shop owner or the person selling it to you in the shop for some water, and usually there are cafe's with those coffeeshops or a small bar where you can buy something to drink, so they will have water there aswell Taking a small bottle with water along isnt a bad idea either, it's whatever you want to do, in the dam it doesnt matter, aslong as you have a nice smoke Not all the shops have got ice though, but some deffinatly do have it
