I just wanted to make a thread dedicated to avacados ...which are love, imho (good and good for you! A good fat! Wow!) . lol...I like them in sandwiches, my friend drinks them in smoothies, and just plain alone Other interesting avacado facts: The skin is an antibiotic. The seed is cut in pieces, roasted and pulverized and given to overcome diarrhea and dysentery. The powdered seed is believed to cure dandruff. A piece of the seed, or a bit of the decoction, put into a tooth cavity may relieve toothache. An ointment made of the pulverized seed is rubbed on the face as a rubefacient—to redden the cheeks. An oil extracted from the seed has been applied on skin eruptions. So, in dedication to the avacado...here is my personal guacamole recipe: 2 avacados (I like the dark ones with the leathery skin, personally...not the green ones); mashed 1 tomato; chopped 1/4 cup of onions; chopped 1 clove of garlic 1 tablespoon of lime juice 1/4 teaspoon of salt Mix together and enjoy! I personally use Garden of Eatin' yellow corn chips (my mom won't let me get the blue ones...which I like better...because my sisters won't eat them...lol)
omg yes... I used to hate avacados/guacamole but somehow it grew on me, and now I'm addicted. I simply can NOT eat any sort of mexican dish without guacamole now. It's really getting to be a problem, lmao.
i could eat avocados daily.. i read somewhere it takes an avocado tree 30 years to mature!! waiting 30 years for an avocado.. it's worth the wait and probably why they usually cost so much
I use to hate them, too. But now I love them...your recipe sounds good, except for I don't like raw tomatoes like that.
Yeah they're delicous... we had a most of a create for free at work the other day (I work at a kitchen in a food coop) so we made it into guac for the employees. so good...
